Chapter 893
Haley's eyes filled up with tears, looking all sad and pitiful. Martin's heart melted right away.
Even though he knew Haley was a sneaky little fox, he still caved, taking a step back. Martin forced a smile and said, "Take your time to get used to it."
He gently ran his fingers through her hair, slowly massaging her scalp.
He thought about all the crap he'd been through lately. He had always been immersed in the murky world of conspiracies, and the endless darkness of confinement without day or night made him realize that even a life steeped in intrigue was preferable to being trapped in the basement, like a living corpse.
"Don't be like this."
Haley's soft voice sent a wave of pleasure through Martin. It seemed like all women were the same in bed.
Martin kept rubbing the back of Haley's head and whispered, "Does that feel good?"
Haley nodded with her eyes closed, her body slowly relaxing. Martin kicked off his shoes and draped himself over Haley, his movements getting gentler.
Just then, Haley's hand slipped under the pillow and pulled out a sharp knife, pressing it right against Martin's neck. The cozy, romantic vibe vanished in an instant.
Martin's face turned cold. He pressed his tongue against his palate, flashing a roguish grin. He was trying to please Haley, while Haley was plotting to kill him.
The knife pressed against his neck, a sharp pain followed, and blood started dripping, staining the white sheets.
Haley sat up, pressing the knife against Martin's neck. She didn't even bother putting on clothes, just looked at Martin with a cold smile, "Surprised?"
Martin sneered, "I should've known you wouldn't give in so easily."
He picked up the earring in his hand, about to press it.
Haley said coldly, "Even if you give the command, I still have time to fight back. Think I might just end it all and take you down with me?"
Martin's fingers paused. Haley was ruthless; it wouldn't be a shock if she did something like that.
Haley raised her hand to snatch the earring, but before she could speak, Martin laughed.
"Like this earring? I got plenty more, probably a few hundred." Martin leaned lazily against the headboard, not even fazed by the knife at his neck. He chuckled, "I got hundreds of guys, each with an earring. If you kill me, they'll make your life a living hell."
Haley's hand started to shake. She could destroy one, but could she find the rest?
Haley's fingers trembled as she pressed hard, the blade slicing across Martin's neck. Warm blood spurted out, splattering all over Haley's face.
Martin clutched his neck, eyes filled with hidden anger, "You were this close to cutting my artery. Would you be happy if I died?"
"If I really wanted to kill you, I wouldn't have held back!" Haley gripped the knife tightly and said through gritted teeth, "Get out!"
Martin glared at her hatefully, "Haley, you'll pay for this. Just wait!"
He pushed open the window and jumped out, barely making a sound in the night.
Haley collapsed on the bed, drained. It wasn't until the cold wind from outside blew in that she snapped out of it.
