Chapter 95 Caught In The Act
Emily's words were interrupted by Haley’s taunting, to call Mr. Bailey. In front of the circle of friends, this would appear extremely ridiculous. But Mr. Bailey, the CEO of the Roscente Group's branch in Cuenca, is the target of flattery from Cuenca businessmen. Someone with his status wouldn't possibly collude with Haley to post a fake update in the circle of friends. The people in the meeting room looked at Emily with a hint of scrutiny in their eyes.
"Emily, are you saying that you really sent an assistant to Mr. Bailey to undermine the image of the DeRoss Group?"
Emily tightly clenched her fist, took a deep breath, and said, "I didn't... it was my assistant acting on her own, it has nothing to do with me."
This explanation was simply not convincing enough. Mr. Taylor and Mr. Smith, the two major directors, looked disappointed.
"Even if my assistant didn't invite Mr. Bailey for a meal, the Roscente Group would never cooperate with the DeRoss Group." Emily tried to hold on, "We can't blame the failure of negotiations solely on my assistant!"
If the cooperation didn't go through, Haley wouldn't be able to enter the board of directors!
It was precisely at that moment, that the phone placed on the conference room table vibrated.
Haley smiled faintly, “It’s Mr. Bailey calling.”
She pressed the answer button, and a clear voice came from the other end, "Ms. DeRoss, the electronic contract has been filed, and I have sent the project materials to your email, please check."
"Thank you, Mr. Bailey. I hope we have a pleasant cooperation." Haley raised an eyebrow and smiled, "I have something to attend to here, so I'll treat you to a meal later."
The call ended swiftly. She held the phone, her gaze sweeping over the faces of everyone present, "Now, are you still going to kick me out?"
"Impossible!" Emily exclaimed, "The Roscente Group has partnered with the Hill family. How could they sign a contract with you? Stop pretending here!"
"Emily, can't you tolerate the DeRoss Group and the Roscente Group collaborating? The facts are right in front of you, and yet you refuse to believe?" Haley snapped her fingers, and her assistant opened the meeting room door, placing printed documents in front of everyone.
In a cold voice, she said, "These are internal materials of the Roscente Group for this project, only accessible to cooperative partners. Emily, what else do you have to say now?"
Emily's face turned pale, and she was almost biting her lip until it bled. Her assistant had made an agreement with Mr. Bailey last night, so why... why did this happen today? Where did they go wrong?
"It's you! You deliberately set a trap!" Emily widened her eyes. "Mr. Bailey had already discussed a collaboration with you, but you deliberately tempted my assistant and Mr. Bailey to have a meal together! Haley, how malicious of you, to plot such a scheme!"
Haley shook her head. "So, everyone, do you think I deliberately framed Emily?"
Anyone with functioning eyes in the room knew whose side to take.
Mr. Taylor pondered. "Since Haley has signed a contract with the Roscente Group, she will be the manager of the Client Department from now on."
