Chapter 743
Haley's face grew increasingly grim.
The last time there was a party conflict, Leonardo got seriously hurt. Now, with an arms explosion, she had no idea if he was okay.
In such a place full of crime and chaos, she found that her heart could never find peace.
"The situation's getting more complicated," Thomas remarked. "The new policies Leonardo implemented have affected the interests of many wealthy people. They might team up against him."
Karl, resting his chin on his hand, said, "But his policies have created jobs and made things safer. He'll always have supporters."
Haley pressed her lips together, not knowing what to say.
She thought, 'No matter what happened here, no matter if if was evil, and no matter how many innocent civilians died, it shouldn't involve Ivan.'
She admitted she was being selfish.
In her world, her kids and Ivan was everything. She just wanted them safe.
She longed to leave this war-torn place with Ivan.
"Dad's been in power for less than a month, and there are too many unstable factors around him," Todd said softly. "Outside, three major parties are watching him closely. Inside, the system is a mess, and the political and economic gaps are huge. This setup is bound to have problems."
Karl felt outsmarted by Todd's intelligence.
He'd only heard such theories from his history and political science teachers. Hearing it from a four-year-old was a first.
He felt like he'd wasted his years.
"Mom, we have to help Dad," Keith said, his voice getting hoarse from worry. "It wasn't easy for him to get here. Many want to take him down. Every ousted leader ends up dead."
Angela's eyes filled with tears. "Keith, you have to help Dad."
She finally found her dad and didn't want to lose him again.
Keith handed a document to Haley. "Mom, this is top-secret info Todd and I got by hacking into Black Gang's network. Can you take it to Dad?"
Haley skimmed through it. It detailed the officers within the Black Gang, showing Quillan's allies, Anthony's, defectors, undecided ones, and those influenced by Quillan. Everything was clear.
If Haley took this info to Ivan, many things would be easier to handle.
Haley pressed her lips together.
Even though Black Gang had nothing to do with them, Ivan was already in that position.
No matter how much she didn't want to, she had to work with Leonardo to fix this mess first.
"I'll go tomorrow," Haley said quietly. "You all stay home and don't wander outside, got it?"
Todd nodded. "I won't go out without permission, Mom. Remind Owen too."
Owen quickly promised, "I won't risk my and Angela's safety again. Keith, you keep an eye on me."
Haley just hoped Ivan wasn't hurt.
As she was preparing for the next day's action that night, Leonardo knocked on her bedroom balcony window.
