Chapter 334

The murmurs of the people around filtered into Haley's ears as she walked calmly inside, unconcerned.

A slow, pleased smile crept onto Ivan's lips.

His reserved seats were in the VIP section, right at the front of the first row. A group of six made their way to the forefront.

Owen momentarily forgot Ivan's warning and started chattering away. "Angela, can we sit together over here?"

Angela hopped down from Haley's arms and sat at the very end next to Owen.

"Keith, you sit on my left, and Todd, take the seat to Angela's right."

Owen made the seating arrangements clear, and the two seats left on the edge merged into spots for Haley and Ivan.

Haley settled next to Keith, occasionally overhearing Owen's voice.

"Angela, the concert's about to start. Aren't you excited? Angela, I've never been to a concert before. Don't make fun of me if I don't get it, okay? Angela, can I hold your little hand, please? Wow, your hands are so soft..."

"Owen, can you keep it down?" That was Keith's voice, tinged with annoyance.

Owen made a face. "Angela likes listening to me talk. Who are you to stop me? Right, Angela?"

"Yep!" The little girl nodded vigorously, making a brief sound in agreement.

Owen grew smugger. "See that, Keith? Angela permitted me to talk!"

Seeing the children interact brought a soft smile to Haley's face.

Perhaps it was her brother's companionship that made Angela slowly start to accept the world and begin to speak.

Especially with Owen's outgoing, carefree nature, his stark contrast to Angela's silence made it no surprise that she wanted to sit with him. They shared the same blood as siblings, bound by a deep familial power within their marrow.

The piano concert began, the auditorium lights dimmed, and Owen finally fell silent.

The first piece was a grand hymn, four hands playing together by two renowned pianists. Each note was filled with admiration and love for the splendid landscape, the music flowing and stirring like blood coursing with fervor.

Haley loved piano concerts, though chances to attend them had been few in recent years.

She juggled work and tending to her two kids; her life was jam-packed with commitments.

Lost in the melody of the piano, her eyes sparkled with life.

Ivan turned his head to gaze at the shimmering pools of her eyes in the darkness. His heart was struck with a sudden weight. It was an emotion he had never felt before.

Like a traveler wandering the desert for months, he suddenly glimpsed a clear, refreshing spring. The feeling was indescribable.

Slowly, Ivan leaned in toward Haley as if drawn by an invisible force.

Clunk—

The sound of something heavy hitting the floor snapped him back to reality.

Immediately, he straightened up, feigning nonchalance.

Haley glanced down to find her water bottle had fallen. She quickly bent over to pick it up.

However, the auditorium lights were off, casting shadows in the dimness. Under the chairs, it was pitch black. She felt around on the floor, searching for her bottle.

Ivan turned again, watching her search. Despite the dark, he could still make out her delicate features.
