Chapter 859

Owen's tears were streaming down his face.

"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be such a klutz. Mom looks super mad, what do I do now?" Owen was totally lost. "Why did she get so scary all of a sudden?"

The way his mom had just looked at him, it was like she was staring at some stranger she couldn't stand. That look felt like a needle stabbing right into his heart.

Keith pursed his lips, "That dress was a gift from Dad. Mom probably treasures it a lot, which is why she flipped out like that."

"Even so, Mom shouldn't be that mad." Todd was sitting by the window, looking all deep and thoughtful. "There's gotta be something we're missing."

Angela's voice was all choked up, "Todd, Mom's look was really scary. I've never seen her like that before, and I think I even saw…"

She saw Mom bite Dad's shoulder. When Dad came in, his shoulder looked like it was covered in blood.

Mom loved Dad so much; how could she bite him and make him bleed?

She didn't dare to say these things; she was scared she had seen it wrong.

"Mom isn't scary at all, don't say that." Todd spoke calmly. "Tomorrow morning, Owen should make breakfast for Mom to apologize."

Owen nodded like crazy. "Okay, I'll do my best to not make Mom mad again."

The kids were all worried and scared in their room, while Ivan in the bedroom was also feeling uneasy.

He thought Haley was just rejecting him, but he didn't expect the four kids to also be within the Bio-intelligent Chip's program range.

Martin was really ruthless!

Ivan sat by the bed, tending to the wound on his shoulder while keeping a close eye on Haley, who was lying in bed. He was afraid something weird might happen again.

Luckily, Haley slept through the night.

Early in the morning, Ivan got an email from Jared, which was an interview with victims who had been implanted with the Bio-intelligent Chip.

Ivan carefully read through the nearly ten-thousand-word report on his phone. The three victims were all soldiers from around the Hinterlands. From start to finish, it was three tragic stories.

"Ivan, what are you reading so intently?" Haley's slightly hoarse voice sounded behind him.

Ivan calmly turned off his phone. He turned around and planted a kiss on Haley's forehead. "Morning, Haley."

Haley wrapped her arms around his neck and smiled. "Morning."

She was about to get up when she suddenly smelled the scent of medicine. Her eyes followed the scent and she was stunned. "What happened to your shoulder?"

"I accidentally bumped into the door last night and put on some ointment." Ivan said nonchalantly. He put on his shirt, covering the wound on his shoulder. His voice was gentle, "What do you want for breakfast? I'll go downstairs and make it for you."

Haley chuckled. "Never mind, the kids all say what you make doesn't taste good."

"As long as you think it tastes good, that's all that matters. Besides, my cooking has improved a bit." Ivan buttoned his shirt cuffs and prepared to go downstairs.

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Owen's voice came from outside, "Mom, are you up?"

Haley smiled and stretched lazily as she sat up. "I'm awake, come in."

Owen pushed the door open, holding a bowl of steaming hot pasta.

Haley was a bit surprised. "Owen, what's going on?"
