Chapter 212

Followed by a voice message: "Keith, a friend sent me this video clip. The middle-aged woman in it is the mother of the guy who hit Owen... If what she's saying is true, then Haley had to be behind this!"

Meanwhile, Keith had classes lined up for the morning. He was studying in his room when his phone buzzed, a glimpse was enough to see Haley's name flash across the screen. Curiosity about Haley had always piqued his interest, more so lately. In the past, any call or message from Emily would go unchecked while he was on the job or hitting the books. But this time, he opened the message, and the video played automatically...

After the video, Emily's voice rang through another message, "Keith, Haley did this, and you've got to help Owen get justice!"

Keith pursed his lips, about to switch off his phone when a large hand suddenly reached out and seized it from him.

Lifting his eyes, he met Ivan's gaze, who had appeared by his side. Ivan watched the video, and with a cold chuckle, remarked, "Looks like I've been negligent. Never inquired about the perpetrator's mother."

"Dad, let's drop it," said Keith, standing up and biting his lip.

Ivan's eyes bore into him as he spoke slowly, "Give me a reason."

Keith looked down and explained, "The way she speaks, her gaze darting around, her stiff demeanor—it's all rehearsed. And the scene, sent to me by mom, seems staged. Mom's always been wary of Haley, wanting to drive her out of Cuenca—her fear is understandable. That's why I'm asking you to give her another chance."

Ivan spoke in a steady tone, "So, you don't believe Haley had anything to do with Owen's accident?"
"I've had people look into it," Keith lifted his gaze, "Haley is not involved. But let me be clear; if she thinks she can use Owen to marry into the Winston family, that's not happening."

Ivan snorted, "How old are you, kid? Do you even grasp what marriage entails? Hit the books and quit meddling in adult affairs."

With that, he pivoted and left the study.

Keith sat at the desk, a shadow cast over his eyes, feeling incredibly conflicted.

On one hand, he hated the thought of Haley using Owen.

On the other, he couldn't help but feel a certain attraction toward her, following her every move with unrelenting interest.

He was at a loss about his own feelings...

Moreover, he found himself growing more resentful towards his mother.

He used to bury these feelings deep, but lately, he couldn't keep them down...

As Keith mulled this over, his phone on the desk began to vibrate.

Seeing the caller ID, he flipped his phone over.

But it persisted, the buzzing growing increasingly irritating.

Frowning, he answered the call.

"Keith, have you seen the video I sent you??"
