Chapter 840

"Grandma's kinda grumpy today. When you get back from school, make sure to chat with her a bit," Haley said, ruffling the kids' hair before heading to the kitchen to whip up dinner.

Todd nodded, "Is it 'cause of Martin?"

Haley didn't bother hiding it anymore. They both knew what was up.

She sighed, "Yeah, but she'll get over it eventually. Don't stress too much."

She got to cooking. The chef had already prepped all the ingredients and side dishes. In less than half an hour, dinner was ready.

After dinner, the kids hit the books, while Haley and Ivan went to the study to tackle some work.

Haley was digging into the Lumi Group. She was gunning for the heir spot, so she needed to know her competition inside out.

Ivan handed her a stack of papers. "Here are the Lumi Group's financials for the past few years and their major projects from the last six months. Take your time."

Haley grinned, "Babe, you're the best. How'd you know I needed this?"

Ivan's lips curled into a smirk, "So, how are you gonna thank me?"

Haley rolled her eyes, "Can't you think of anything else? Aren't you tired of always wanting sex?"

"Not even a little," Ivan said, moving closer. "You can look at these tomorrow. Let's call it an early night."

He leaned in with an intense gaze, making Haley scoot away quickly. "The shareholders' meeting is the day after tomorrow. If I wait until tomorrow, it'll be too late. Babe, cut it out. If you keep this up, I'm ignoring you!"

Raising her voice, Ivan backed off, focusing on his documents next to her.

Haley leaned against his back, slowly flipping through the Lumi Group's info.

The days flew by, and soon it was time for the Lumi Group's shareholders' meeting.

With the Lumi Group's successor election on the line, not just major shareholders but also senior execs were there. The room was packed.

Cauth personally escorted Haley in, and dozens of eyes immediately turned their way.

Haley, used to big scenes, walked in cool as a cucumber, bowed to everyone, and said, "Distinguished shareholders. I'm Haley, a member of the Lumi Family. I hope to learn from you all."

Out of respect for Cauth, the room gave a scattered round of applause.

Bark, sitting at the head of the table, said calmly, "Everyone, take a seat first."

Having attended the banquet a few nights ago, most of those present knew the purpose of today's meeting. They quieted down to listen to Bark.

"The rule is that any descendant of the Lumi Family can run for the successor position. Only the capable can lead the Lumi Group," Bark said calmly. "There's no doubt that Haley is also eligible to participate in the Lumi Group's successor election as my granddaughter. Anyone got anything to say?"

Since Bark had said it was beyond doubt, no one dared to challenge his authority, keeping the room silent.

Ava lowered her head, smirking coldly.

"Since no one has any objections, Haley and Ava will officially start competing for the Lumi Group's successor position," Bark announced. "The election process will stay the same as before. After a month, the one with the higher score will inherit the Lumi Group."

The scoring system was super complex, involving profitability, project completion, employee ratings, and senior management scores. It was a complicated task to calculate the total score.

The two most critical aspects were project profitability and networking.
