Chapter 358

Seeing that, Haley was speechless.

She forced a smile and went downstairs to find Todd. Seeing her son still reading so late, she said helplessly, "Todd, why don't you save these complex books for when you're older? You should read more storybooks now."

She took Todd's hand and led him upstairs, "It's getting late. Hurry up, take a shower, and rest. Do you need me to help you with your bath?"
Todd quickly shook his head, "No need. I'll wash up."

He grabbed his change of clothes and headed into the bathroom, emerging ten minutes later with his hair still damp and clinging to his forehead, making him look even more endearing.

Haley led him to his room and asked softly, "Do you want me to read you a bedtime story?"

"Yes."

Todd picked up the storybook from his nightstand. All the stories in his collection were fables, which were a bit more complex.

Haley settled against the headboard and began to read slowly. It wasn't until after three fables that Todd finally closed his eyes and fell asleep.

She turned off the lamp, tiptoed out the door, and gently closed it behind her.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw Ivan also coming out of Angela's room.

"Angela's asleep," he said, his voice deep and resonant.

Together, they went downstairs, and in the quiet of the night, his voice was alluring..

She clenched her hands tight, maintaining her composure, and said, "It's getting late. Shouldn't Mr. Winston be heading back?"

"I've told you before, don't call me Mr. Winston," Ivan stopped in his tracks, his dark gaze fixed on her face, "Call me Ivan."

Haley felt a headache coming on. But she had suggested the boyfriend thing, so it wouldn't be right to go back on her word.

She pursed her lips, retorting, "Fine, Ivan."

"What would you like me to call you?"

Ivan stepped closer.

Instinctively, Haley wanted to step back, but before she could, a hot hand suddenly wrapped around her slender waist, and he drew close to her ear, "Don't move. There's someone outside."

Haley froze. Her senses were on high alert, and she glanced out the window, where the sparse shadows of the trees seemed to quiver with movement.

Someone was actually sneaking around her villa!

Maybe because she was so focused on what was happening outside, she let her guard down around Ivan.

He held her waist tightly, his lips close to her ear. "Let's move slowly towards the window," he said.

Haley nodded and instinctively gripped the sleeve of his shirt.

As they moved, a strange and enticing fragrance wafted from her collar, which suddenly reminded Ivan of a night five years prior. A tight feeling gripped him.

In that instant, he felt an impulse he couldn't resist. He really couldn’t resist her charm.

All of Haley's attention was fixed on the tree outside the window as she and Ivan embraced and slowly edged towards it, like lovers reluctant to part.

As they neared the window, the figure standing in the tree came into clearer view.
