Chapter 1033
In front of the warm scene, Ivan felt a sense of nostalgia, as if he had returned to four years ago.
Back then the dining table was always lively. Who would have thought that Haley would go missing for four years?
Fortunately, Haley finally came back. It wasn't too late for everything.
"Focus on your own food, don't hover around Ms. Jenkins," Ivan spoke calmly.
Only then did the four children stop serving food to Camilla.
Camilla was more suspicious.
She put herself in their shoes. If her her father suddenly brought a strange woman home after her mother's four-year missing, she would definitely be upset.
But these four children...
If the children didn't have a good relationship with their mother, then why did Angela call her "Mommy" so affectionately that day? It was clear she missed her mother very much.
Camilla ate slowly, filled with doubt.
"Ms. Jenkins, try the soup I made for you."
Owen's eyes sparkled as he carried over a bowl of soup.
Camilla smiled and said, "Thank you."
She reached for the bowl but was a second too slow, spilling it all over her dress.
"I'm sorry, Mommy! I'm sorry!"
Owen's eyes widened in fear. How could he spill the soup carelessly on Mommy's dress again?
Camilla paused. "What did you call me?"
"Ms. Jenkins!" Owen said blankly, "I'm sorry, Ms. Jenkins, I didn't mean to."
"It's okay." Camilla thought she had misheard. She smiled gently, patting Owen's head. "Clothes can be washed; there's nothing to be afraid of."
Owen's eyes widened. "You really don't blame me?"
"Of course," Camilla said with a smile, "But you have to take me to the bathroom to clean up my clothes."
Owen's eyes welled up. For the past four years, he had always dreamed about the time when he had spilled cake on her clothes, and she had yelled at him.
He kept replaying those events in his mind, which had become his nightmares.
For a moment, he even thought Mommy would slap him. But what he imagined didn't happen.
Seeing Owen standing there in a daze, Ivan pushed back his chair and stood up. "I'll take you to the bathroom."
He walked upstairs first, and Camilla followed.
Ivan walked to the master bedroom door and pushed it open. The room was dimly lit, but Camilla could still see the decor.
The curtains were light pink, and the bed was covered with pink sheets. It looked like a woman's bedroom.
Ivan pressed his lips together. Everything in this room was just as Haley had left it.
He could only fall asleep on the bed Haley had arranged, as if only the things she had used still carried her scent.
Camilla quickly went into the bathroom. Once inside, she realized that a bowl of greasy chicken soup had ruined all her clothes from the waist down.
The worst part was that her underwear seemed to be wet too, sticking to her uncomfortably. Even if she dried it, she would still smell like chicken soup.
Camilla walked out helplessly. "Mr. Winston, is there a mall near your house?"
Ivan glanced at her. "We have women's clothes here. Would you mind wearing them for now?"
He paused and continued. "The nearest mall is at least twenty minutes away. I'm afraid you won't be comfortable wearing that."
