Chapter 768
Ivan had just taken a sip of crisp champagne when hi mind suddenly went blank for a moment. Before he could figure out what was happening, his vision went dark, and he collapsed directly onto the dining table.
The night wore on.
By the time Haley finished telling the children their bedtime stories, the clock had already struck eleven.
The children all fell asleep, but Haley was wide awake.
Logically, Ivan should have been here by now. Even if he couldn't make it, he should have called her.
Haley wanted to call him but worried he might be dealing with something important, so she held back.
"Something must have come up," Thomas comforted. "The Black Gang was just taken down, and many people are on the run. It's not easy to catch all of them. Especially since Isabel escaped. She will definitely come back."
"I understand." Haley smiled slightly. "I'm going to rest now. You should get some sleep too."
She yawned and walked upstairs to her room.
Just as she finished washing up, her phone started vibrating on the bed.
Haley walked over to answer the call with excitement, but her face turned cold when she saw the ID.
It was Martin.
She hung up the call immediately.
Martin didn't insist on calling again but sent a long message instead.
[Haley, do you really think that hooking up with Leonardo means you can walk all over me? Let me tell you, the Black Gang is finished, and Leonardo is nothing now. I can crush him like a bug. Once my injuries heal, I'm coming for you. You owe me, and I will make you pay.]
The long message fully displayed Martin's resentment and anger.
Haley deleted the message directly.
Even if Ivan was no longer Leonardo, he still had the ability to deal with Martin.
She didn't need to worry about such things at all.
The morning sun spread across the land, heralding a new day.
Haley rubbed her eyes and sat up. She glanced at the time and found it was already past eight in the morning.
Maybe because the Black Gang issue was finally resolved, she had slept well and felt full of energy.
Haley opened the door and went downstairs, where the kids quickly gathered around her.
"Mommy, where's Daddy? Why isn't he with you?"
"We thought you and Daddy were sleeping in."
"Did Daddy disappear again?" As Angela spoke, tears almost welled up in her eyes.
Haley quickly picked Angela up. "Daddy is still busy with important matters. He should be back soon."
Just as she said this, her heart ached. She sensed something bad was about to happen.
Haley put Angela down and said with a relaxed smile, "I'll call your daddy right now and ask when he'll be back."
