Chapter 602
"In this world, men with money and power are prone to change their hearts."
"Haley must be so miserable, being cheated on just after they got married. Or maybe she still doesn't know."
"Mr. Winston's mistress came just as the four children left today."
After Haley finished handling matters at work, she drove home.
Before the car even entered the Winston family mansion, she saw a familiar black car in the yard.
Haley parked the car and looked toward the mansion, where she saw a familiar man sitting in the living room.
Brenda was talking to Martin. Angela was leaning against him, eyes slightly closed as if she was asleep.
Keith and Todd were reading, sitting on the opposite couch. Owen was assembling a Transformer. The atmosphere in the living room seemed peaceful and beautiful.
Haley stood at the entrance, feeling hesitant to go in.
She was afraid of disrupting this long-lost harmony.
"Haley is back!"
Brenda was the first to see her and greeted her with a smile.
Martin, sitting on the couch, turned to look at her, without any warmth in his eyes.
Then, Martin stood up, forgetting that Angela was leaning on him. Angela was startled and moved slightly.
He picked up Angela and held her in his arms, then walked towards Haley. "Were you busy with work?"
Martin's tone and gaze were different and his eyes were cold and distant, yet his voice carried a rare gentleness.
At that moment, Haley had serious doubts whether Ivan had dissociative identity disorder.
"No matter how busy I am, you're still the busiest one." Haley said as she took off her shoes. "So, have you finally finished your work?"
"Are you still mad at me?" Martin said. He walked over, his large hand reaching out and suddenly embracing Haley's waist.
Haley felt a surge of repulsion and instinctively wanted to escape his embrace.
Martin lowered his head, leaned close to her ear, and whispered, "The children are watching, do you want them to see us argue?"
Haley turned her head and indeed saw the three boys staring at her intently, as if they would rush over together if Ivan dared to bully her.
Haley took a deep breath and said, "Wake Angela up, it's time for dinner."
"I'll take Angela to wash her face." Brenda came over, picked up Angela, and said with a smile, "There should be no lingering grudges between husband and wife. Let's talk things out. Keith, Owen, Todd, come along, let's go to the bathroom to wash our hands and get ready for dinner."
Brenda carried Angela in her arms and dragged Todd, who was unwilling to leave, into the bathroom.
Soon, only Haley and Martin were left in the living room.
Haley took a step back, avoiding Martin's touch.
She raised her eyes and was about to speak when her gaze fell on Martin's collar.
The red lipstick on his collar was so conspicuous.
At that moment, Haley suddenly understood why Ivan had changed suddenly, and why he didn't want to come home anymore!
Still, how could he change his mind so fast?
