Chapter 26 Sunshine Preschool
The little one lay on Madam Martínez' lap, speaking softly, "Angela only likes to eat Mommy's food, she has lost weight since being at the Martínez family these past few days."
Madam Martínez laughed. "So if I don't let your mommy cook, I'll become the bad person?"
"No, I just want to..."said Todd with a playful wink.
"Todd, you're such a good child!" Madam Martínez affectionately ruffled Todd's hair.
At only four years old, Todd not only took care of his little sister, but also helped Haley with many tasks. He was such a thoughtful little gentleman, so likable.
In the kitchen, Haley was preparing the meal. Both children were premature and had weaker bodies in their early years, so Haley started studying cooking to ensure they ate properly.
Before turning eighteen, Haley was a lady who never lifted a finger to do household chores. However, after having two children, she began to try everything and gradually fell in love with the feeling of cooking.
She enjoyed using various ingredients to create nutritious meals and loved seeing her loved ones finish a table full of food. For her, this was the simplest form of happiness.
An hour later, five dishes and a soup were served on the table.
There was chicken soup for the elderly, pumpkin soup and chicken wings for the children, as well as delicious grilled spare ribs, and a serving of spaghetti.
"Haley, did you really make all of this?" Madam Martínez looked incredulous. "Your culinary skills can rival those of a professional chef."
Todd picked up a piece of chicken and put it in Madam Martínez's bowl.
"Grandma, you'll know how skilled Mommy is once you try it."
With a skeptical attitude, Madam Martínez took a bite and was even more amazed. The chicken was incredibly delicious, even better than anything she had tasted before.
"Haley, you're amazing!" Justin took a bite and his eyes widened in shock. "The DeRoss family's chef can't compare to even half of your skills."
Haley laughed. "That's an exaggeration."
However, the reactions of everyone at the table proved otherwise. Angela had her head buried in the rice bowl and finished a large bowl of rice in just a few minutes. She blinked her big eyes and held up the empty bowl, indicating that she wanted more.
The composed and dignified Todd licked his lips and went to get himself another bowl of rice.
As Madam Martínez has gotten older, her appetite has decreased. She usually only ate half a bowl of rice, but today she added a little extra.
The table was cleared by the five of them.
"Haley, with your culinary skills, you could open a restaurant and it would surely be a hit in the whole city," Justin sincerely said.
Haley smiled and said, "I'm not interested in opening a restaurant, but speaking of which, I would like to ask my older cousin for two favors. I plan to open a studio and need to rent an office space, so I kindly ask my older cousin to keep an eye out for me. Also, Todd and Angela need a nanny during the day, can you please help me find a trustworthy one?"
Sunshine Preschool is an elite preschool, built like a castle.
Emily led Owen inside, but Owen forcefully pulled away from her.
A cold shadow crossed her brow, but she forced it down and said, "Owen, this was your father's decision. Why are you giving me the cold shoulder?"
"In which eye did you see me giving you the cold shoulder?" Owen snorted. "I just don't want you to touch me."
"You!" Emily was on the verge of losing her temper.
She took a deep breath and said, "You better behave and not cause trouble. Otherwise, I won't be able to explain to your father."
"Isn't it just a matter of withdrawing from school? What trouble can I cause?" Owen impatiently replied, "Hurry up and go sign the paperwork. I'll wait for you outside."
"Well, you better wait obediently. If you dare run away, your father won't let you off easily."
Emily turned on her high heels and walked away, the anger in her chest rising.
She should have strangled Owen when he was little.
Raising him has been nothing but trouble for her!
Owen sat on the steps outside the teaching building, with a displeased look on his face.
Once he finished the withdrawal procedure, it wouldn't be easy for him to step foot in the Winston family again.
In the past, he always thought preschool was childish. Singing and dancing every day was so boring, so he would secretly slip away to play during class.
But, compared to being locked up in the Winston family, he would rather spend every day with those childish ghosts, singing and dancing...
Owen was bored and then he saw a car stop at the preschool entrance. Four people got out.
His eyes lit up.
It was Aunt Haley!
And Angela!
But who was the boy holding Angela's hand?
Owen squinted his eyes.
He remembered a few days ago at the airport, this boy seemed to be the one who pushed him away and called Aunt Haley, "Mommy."
So, this boy...
Todd is Aunt Haley's son and Angela's biological older brother!
For some reason, Owen feels very uncomfortable in his heart.
This discomfort makes him emit a chilling sensation throughout his whole body.
The group of four people in the distance didn't notice his presence.
Haley led the two children into preschool and whispered, "Todd, you accompany your sister to familiarize herself with the preschool environment. We'll go in and talk to the teacher first, regarding Angela's condition”, they must inform the teacher in detail, and only if the teacher is willing to accept, can they discuss what comes next.
Haley and Justin entered the teacher's office.
The person receiving them was a young female teacher. "Mr. Martínez, Ms. DeRoss, hello. I have already been informed about the situation of the children by Mr. Martínez. Autism is actually a very common illness, and our preschool has enrolled many students with this condition. If we send autistic children to special schools, they will become aware of their illness and become even more withdrawn."
"But if we send the children to preschool, under the influence of normal and lively children, autistic children will gradually be willing to interact with everyone and their condition can also be alleviated... Our school has experience in this area, so parents can rest assured..."
The young female teacher covered every aspect of the issue, alleviating Haley's final worry.
...
Todd took Angela to swing on the swing.
The little girl wore a fluffy princess dress, and the swing soared high, with her dress fluttering in the wind.
A faint smile appeared at the corner of her lips.
Angela looks so beautiful when she smiles.
Owen hid behind a tree, greedily staring at Angela's smiling face.
If only she were his real sister, he could openly play with her...
His dark eyes paused, suddenly thinking of something, and he turned and ran away.
Todd's gaze followed his figure, a cold smile appearing on his lips.
