After announcing the severance of ties, Haley never cared about the Deross family matters again.
Moreover, she was never really a part of the Deross family.
"Emily was gang-raped in prison," Amara sighed. "It was brought to light half a month ago when she was pregnant. However, those people who raped her forced her abortion. Emily's body is ruined, and her mental state is not stable. I heard she went insane and was sent to a mental institution."
Haley felt a mix of emotions.
In her youth, she considered Emily family, but their bond began to crack on her coming-of-age day.
That crack completely shattered on the night she gave birth.
She resented Emily for four years and once felt so depressed that she contemplated running her over.
But after Keith and Owen returned to her side, all the past grudges and hatred dissipated.
She and Emily no longer owed each other anything.

Haley interrupted Amara calmly. "Grandma, I am not part of the Deross family, and he is not my father."
"Haley, don't speak out of anger," Amara gently advised, "You have the Deross family's blood in you, and that's a fact that can't be changed."
"Grandma, I'm not speaking out of anger," Haley said, "Carl DeRoss is not my biological father. I had a test done."
Amara was completely stunned. "What?"
Haley knew this matter couldn't be hidden forever, so she said softly, "When my mother married Carl DeRoss, she was already pregnant. Carl DeRoss married my mother to gain the support of the Martinez family to establish the DeRoss Group."
"What are you saying?" Amara still couldn't process it. "Sankar was pregnant before marriage? How is that possible? She was such a good girl; how could she have gotten pregnant out of wedlock?"
"Grandma, I also know who my father is," Haley said calmly, "Cauth Lumi of the Lumi Group."
Amara's eyes widened suddenly.
A month-old memory surfaced: Cauth's visit and the jade green necklace he gifted Haley the night before her wedding.
At the time, she wondered what kind of relationship Haley could have with Cauth.
Now thinking back, she understood everything.
Only a father would give such a precious gift to his daughter before her wedding.
And now that Amara thought about it, Haley's facial features did resemble Cauth's a bit.
Amara furrowed her brows. Back then, Sankar and Cauth had no other interactions. How did they end up having a child together?
And if Sankar was pregnant with Cauth's child, why did she marry Carl?
Amara couldn't figure it out no matter how hard she tried.
Haley couldn't figure it out either.
She learned that Cauth wasn't in Watertown and missed the wedding when her mother married Carl.
