Chapter 534
The Winston family was different from what she recognized as a prestigious family. Mrs. Winston was not as rigid and picky as those high-society ladies. Her character was relatively mild, and the atmosphere in this family had always been quite good, should be considered harmonious, so why hadn't Mr. Fu's wish been fulfilled?
However, seeing Mrs. Winston looking sad, Haley didn't dare to ask more. She could only comfort her softly.
"Thank you, Haley, I'm much better now. Go to the ward and accompany Ivan. I want to be alone for a while."
Haley nodded and watched Mrs. Winston walk away.
She saw the children playing happily and didn't go to greet them but stepped into the ward.
As soon as she entered, she felt that the atmosphere was a bit off.
Ivan was lying on the hospital bed, his face extremely cold, the sharpness between his eyebrows like the ice and snow of midwinter.
Haley walked over and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
Ivan looked at her, the coldness between his brows slowly fading away like melting snow and ice.
"Are you sure nothing's wrong?" Haley frowned. "Did Miss Katherine say something to you?"
Those old things were dark, and Ivan didn't want to affect Haley's mood.
He smiled and said, "Haley, be honest, are you jealous?"
Haley chuckled, "Do I look like someone who gets jealous?"
"Then, why ask about Katherine?" Ivan teased, "As long as you say the word, I will never speak to any woman alone in the future."
"Hmph."
Haley turned her head.
She wasn't that possessive.
Suddenly, she seemed to think of something and turned back to ask, "I never had the chance to ask you, what's going on between you and Sterling?"
As soon as she said this, Ivan's face visibly darkened.
"Haley, you won't encounter Sterling again in the future." The man's deep voice sounded. "I won't let him harm you and the children. You don't need to worry about this person."
With those words, Haley felt reassured.
She wasn't afraid of Sterling, but of the eyes watching the children in the shadows.
But with Ivan around, she was no longer afraid of anything.
After lunch, Haley took the children to try on their outfits. Ivan's injuries had not yet healed, so he could only watch his wife and children leave in the car.
Just as he was feeling frustrated, Luke called.
"Ivan, it's bad. We've lost track of the person."
Ivan's eyes turned cold. "It's normal to lose track. How could he obediently stay in one place to be monitored? Increase manpower, we must find his trace!"
"Yes!"
After hanging up the phone, Ivan lifted the blanket and sat up.
The wedding day was approaching, and he had to expel Sterling from Watertown on the big day, otherwise there would be no peace every day.
Just as he finished putting on his shoes, the attending doctor came in. "Mr. Winston, why are you up? Your injuries haven't healed yet. You can't leave the hospital."
