Chapter 556
Now, Ivan didn't want Martin to ruin his hard-won happiness again.
The unease in his heart grew stronger. Ivan couldn’t calm down at all.
When they returned to the Winston family, Ivan's face was still covered with a layer of frost.
Haley called Angela over.
Angela understood Haley's signal and crawled onto Ivan, saying with a soft voice, "Daddy, weren’t you happy today?"
The icy coldness on Ivan's face visibly melted at a fast speed.
He lifted Angela up and placed her on his shoulder, softly saying, "I was just thinking about work, I’m not unhappy."
Angela smiled and said, "Daddy, I want to be lifted up high!"
Ivan lifted Angela and tossed her into the air, then caught her with both hands. Angela's laughter rang like bells in the living room.
"Daddy, Daddy, me too!" Owen rushed over and grabbed Ivan's pants.
Perhaps Ivan's mood had been too heavy. Now, his patience seemed to have improved. He put Angela down and said with a smile, "Four of you, line up, one by one."
"Great!" Owen happily climbed onto Ivan. "I love it when you lift me high. It's so much fun!"
Ivan felt a bit ashamed.
He had lived with Keith and Owen for four years, but it seemed like he had never had any parent-child interactions with them.
After meeting Haley, his relationship with Keith and Owen had improved slightly.
Todd and Angela lacked paternal love, which needed to be compensated for, and Keith and Owen also needed to be compensated.
Ivan tossed Owen up and caught him. After a few rounds, he looked at Todd and said, "Come on, Todd. It's your turn."
Todd smirked and said, "I don't like being lifted up high."
Ivan said, "Every kid likes being lifted up high."
Without hesitation, Ivan picked up Todd and threw him into the air.
Todd closed his eyes in fear.
Owen burst into laughter, holding his stomach. "I finally know what Todd is afraid of. He's afraid of heights!"
Todd said, "I'm not afraid of heights."
Todd opened his eyes, but when Ivan threw him into the air again, his face turned pale with fear.
Haley also laughed.
So this was why Todd had refused to ride the Ferris wheel no matter what at the amusement park. It turned out he was afraid of heights.
Todd had hidden his thoughts too well. Even though she was his mother, she had only just realized Todd's fear of heights.
It seemed that in the future, she would have to pay more attention to Keith and Owen.
Ivan's mother, Brenda, stood at the top of the stairs on the second floor, a smile of relief on her lips.
As she smiled, her phone vibrated, and her hand trembled when she saw the caller ID.
Brenda quickly silenced the phone, afraid that Ivan and Haley would hear it ring.
But the phone rang again.
Brenda glanced at the warm and harmonious scene downstairs, clenched her lips, and walked into the study to answer the call.
"Most people in Watertown have received the wedding invitation from the Winston family. Why haven't I received mine?" Martin's voice carried a hint of gloom. "Ivan is my brother. I have the right to attend his wedding."
Brenda's breath caught for a moment.
Ivan was currently searching all over Watertown for Martin. Martin was being very bold to demand to attend the wedding right now!
Brenda took a deep breath and said, "Martin, you better leave Watertown as soon as possible. The farther you go, the better. Don't show up in front of Ivan again. I beg you. Okay?"
"I have one last request. I want to attend Ivan's wedding," Martin said coldly. "After the wedding, I’ll leave Watertown immediately and never come back for the rest of my life. It’s just a small request. Can't you agree to it?"
