Chapter 964
Samantha lifted her head and gave Nicole a quiet look.
"Mom, why are you staring at me like that?" Nicole felt a bit uneasy. "I didn't say anything wrong. She's always acting all high and mighty. Does she look like someone who's adopted?"
"Did you set Camilla up?" Samantha asked softly. "I just heard Bradley call Camilla a slut who had a kid. Did you tell Bradley that Camilla had a child?"
Nicole felt super guilty but still snapped back, "Camilla did have a kid. Didn't you tell me that yourself?"
Samantha slapped her hard.
"Mom, why did you hit me?" Nicole covered her face. "I just told Bradley the truth. What did I do wrong? Bradley and I grew up together, but you broke us apart. Fine! But now you want to marry Camilla, a woman who had a child, into Bradley. I was just being kind and warning Bradley."
"Because of you, Camilla's baby was taken out before seven months. The baby died less than two hours after birth due to congenital issues. Camilla saved you. That's one thing. Because of the Jenkins Family, her baby died. That's another," Samantha said slowly and firmly. "The Jenkins Family owes her two lives, so we must adopt her! Don't you get that?"
Nicole gritted her teeth. Every time she argued with Camilla, Samantha would always use this reasoning to lecture her. She gritted her teeth and said, "Even if the Jenkins Family owes her, Mom, you shouldn't wrong Bradley."
"Someone like Bradley isn't worthy of Camilla," Samantha said calmly. "Because the Reynolds Family is the biggest family in Brussville, I want Camilla to marry into it."
Only by being famous in Brussville could Camilla smoothly find her family. The Jenkins Family owed her too much.
"Marrying Bradley is clearly to her advantage," Nicole said indignantly. "Just because she saved me, she gets to become the adopted daughter of the Jenkins Family and the most notable lady in Brussville. She's the one who benefits. The Jenkins Family doesn't owe her anymore, so stop making me give in to her!"
Samantha shook her head. "When we get home, I'll show you something, and you'll understand."
Nicole, covering her face, reluctantly followed Samantha home.
Once home, Samantha took out a sandalwood box from the bedroom. As soon as she opened it, a dazzling light shone from inside.
"Wow, such beautiful jewelry!" Nicole couldn't resist taking the items out of the box.
There were a pair of pearl earrings, a sea-blue diamond necklace, and a jade-green bracelet.
"Do you know what these are?" Samantha asked softly. "When your father brought Camilla back from the beach, she was wearing this jewelry."
Hearing this, Nicole quickly threw the jewelry aside. "They must be fake."
"We initially thought the same. Your father took them to a jewelry store for appraisal, and they are real," Samantha said. "This necklace is a Heart of the Ocean from many years ago, the only one in the world. These earrings are a limited edition from eight years ago, priced around eight million dollars back then. And this bracelet is an antique, worth over twenty million dollars."
Nicole was completely stunned. Although the Jenkins Family was wealthy, the most expensive piece of jewelry she owned didn't exceed one million dollars.
