Chapter 333
Haley whipped around in shock.
Disbelieving, she asked Angela with a slight tremble in her voice, "Angela, what did you just say?"
She had only heard Angela call out 'Daddy' a couple of times before without uttering anything else.
She had consulted with a psychologist who had advised that these things take time and shouldn't be rushed.
She always acted indifferent, but in truth, no one craved to hear Angela's voice more than her.
It had been so long since she had heard any voice other than when she said "Daddy." Haley crouched down, placed her hands on the little girl's shoulders, and gently urged, "What did you just say, sweetheart? Can you say it again?"
The little girl tilted her head and blinked her large eyes but remained silent.
"Haley, Angela told you to give my father a kiss!" Owen said, bursting with excitement. "Angela hardly ever speaks, so you should really give my father a kiss. Do it now!"
"Owen!" Todd furrowed his brow and stepped forward to pull Owen back.
Owen, a bit scared by Todd's stern look, pouted and hid behind Keith.
Haley hadn't heard what Owen said; all her focus was on Angela.
The little girl tilted her head, her pink lips parted, and finally, a brief syllable emerged. "Mommy..."
When that word clearly reached her ears, Haley's eyes instantly reddened with emotion.
After more than four years, over a thousand nights, she finally heard her daughter call her "Mommy."
The therapist had said it might take until Angela was an adult to hear her call out 'Mommy.' Now, more than a decade early, she should be rejoicing, not crying.
"Angela, my good girl..." Haley held her soft daughter as tears streamed down her face.
"Mommy." the little girl said again, reaching up to wipe away her tears, and then continued haltingly, "Why won't Mommy give Daddy a kiss?"
Haley was taken aback.
Her daughter, born after eight months of pregnancy, had first called her Mommy to prompt her to kiss another man.
Todd was at a loss for words. His sister could string together such a long sentence, yet she never once called him by his name.
Owen clapped his hands and cheered. "Kiss! Do it now!"
"All right, the concert's about to start," Ivan said indifferently. "Owen, if you keep causing a fuss, I'll have Alfred come to take you back."
Owen fell silent. He hadn't been causing trouble; he was trying to help Ivan win over Haley.
However, intimidated by his father's icy gaze, he obediently closed his mouth and said no more.
Haley dried her tears, bent down to pick up Angela, and headed toward the concert hall with the group of six.
Their arrival immediately drew countless gazes in the concert hall.
"Wow, they have quadruplets! This family has some strong genes."
"The boys look like their dad and the girls look like their mom. What a blissful family of six."
"The guy is seriously good-looking, and to think he already has kids this big. I didn't expect such a handsome dude to tie the knot that early!"
"If I were ten years younger, I could have been the handsome man's daughter-in-law."
"Have you no shame..."
