Chapter 312
<Chapter>Chapter 312</Chapter>
"I'm going home," Owen muttered as he climbed into his car, his eyes listlessly staring out the window.
When Haley emerged from the kitchen, not seeing Owen around, she couldn't help but ask, "Where's Owen?"
"He's gone back," Todd replied softly.
Haley furrowed her brows. Owen was the clingy type; it was unlike him to leave so abruptly after just arriving.
She looked at her well-behaved son. "Did you tell Owen something?"
"I simply told him the truth," Todd murmured, his lips pressed tight. "He keeps asking why, acting as if his mom cold-heartedly abandoned him when it's clearly their fault that he was born flawed."
Haley fell silent.
She let out a sigh. "You play with your sister for a while. I'll go cook dinner."
The car sped along the road, and in less than twenty minutes, they reached the gates of the Winston residence.
Owen leaped from the car and dashed toward the mansion.
Alfred, with his keen senses, felt something was amiss and quickly followed Owen out of the car.
Keith, who usually returned late, was perusing documents in the living room when he heard footsteps and looked up.
"Did you attack Star Technology?" Owen burst in, his voice erupting with anger.
Keith put down the documents, his face calm. "Who told you that?"
"Just answer me!" Owen's eyes flickered with a barely contained blaze.
Keith stood up, meeting his heated gaze with a cool one. "Yes, I did. What's it to you?"
"So, it's true! Todd didn't lie to me!" Owen choked up. You attacked Haley's company out of spite for her, and now she's taking it out on me! Keith, you might not like Haley, but why target her company? Why?"
Keith's lips tightened.
He had merely intended to probe the weaknesses in Haley's company, not to attack it maliciously, yet his intrusion had inadvertently caused this mess. This was indeed his mistake.
He had also been planning to exploit those vulnerabilities to trap Haley.
He did harbor enmity toward Haley.
Everything Owen said was true. Owen wasn't wrongly accusing him.
"Go and apologize to Haley! Tell her it wasn't intentional." Owen clutched at his wrist. "If you don't, she'll never forgive you, and she'll continue ignoring me too. Please..."
As he spoke, tears began flowing again.
Suddenly, Keith was seized by irritation.
He had targeted Haley because she had gone against his mother. He had his reasons and his stance. He saw no reason to apologize.
However, the thought of Angela possibly never returning to the Winstons made his heart ache as if he had lost something precious. It was a hollow sort of pain.
"What's going on?"
A cold voice echoed from the entrance. Ivan had returned.
The Winston Group had hit a snag these past few days, putting the whole company on high alert, and he had not been home in two days.
As soon as he walked through the door, Ivan noticed his two kids locked in a staring contest, the tension in the air an unmistakable sign of an argument.
