Chapter 243

Todd scrolled through the web, clicking on every news article he came across.

The reports generally depicted Jeremy as a model entrepreneur, a loving husband, and a devoted father.

Something happened five years ago at the King's Hotel. That night…

This man claimed to be Todd and Angela's father. Todd began to doubt whether he had made a mistake. He was now drowning in a sea of self-doubt. He should've done the paternity test last time.

The days in late autumn dawned later. By the time Haley got up, it was already 7:30 AM.
Her room was dimly lit until she drew back the curtains to let in the weak sunlight.

Standing on the balcony, she dialed Heidi.

"Heidi, that man from yesterday isn't Todd and Angela's dad. If he shows up at the school again, ensure he doesn't get anywhere near the kids."

Heidi, of course, agreed. Haley breathed a sigh of relief. Next on her list was to find a lawyer. There was no way she would concede this battle.

She breathed in the crisp autumn air before starting her morning routine.

When she went downstairs, the kids were already up, and Todd was braiding Angela's hair, two neat plaits draping down each side, giving the little girl a look of serene dignity.

Haley smiled gently. "Todd, when did you learn how to braid hair?"

Todd blushed a little. "I watched a tutorial yesterday and thought I'd try it today. It turns out it's not too hard."

Haley ruffled her son's hair. Todd was the light of her life. If Todd and Angela were taken from her, it would be like taking a piece of her.

After getting ready, Haley dropped the kids at preschool and drove to the Martinez Group.

The Martinez Group received countless praises upon the launch of the Martinez Group's high-tech products. Countless distributors were scrambling for stock; the factory was bustling with those on night shifts. The company's stock had begun a steady climb, quickly becoming the dark horse of the stock market.

With a technical stake in this project, Haley received a substantial dividend.
She walked into the lobby and took the elevator to the top floor. But just as she stepped out, she caught sight of the last person she wanted to see.

"Heh, the reigning beauty in Cuenca!" Barbara had just stepped out of the elevator when she spotted Haley.

With light makeup enhancing her features, Haley was dressed in a white blouse and jeans, paired with black heels that spoke of casual elegance. But even in such a simple ensemble, she was stunningly gorgeous.

Barbara's eyes flushed with envy, her words laced with a bitter edge, "Aren't you getting cozy with Ivan from the Winston Group? What brings you to our turf at the Martinez Group?"

Haley met her gaze with a cool detachment. "What are you implying?"

"Oh, stop playing innocent. The whole town's buzzing about your little yacht escapade with Ivan the other night. Everyone knows the two of you checked into a hotel. Although the press didn't pick it up, it is the talk of the down. Ivan's the most eligible bachelor in Cuenca. Everyone knows it. It looks like you've hit the jackpot." Barbara rolled her eyes, unable to mask her resentment.
