Chapter 914
Ivan barged in from outside, his face icy and his eyes landing on Brenda with zero emotion.
Brenda, feeling all kinds of guilty, dodged his gaze. She stammered, "I'm not feeling well. I'm heading upstairs."
"Don't you wanna know where Martin is?" Ivan's words froze Brenda in her tracks.
He said coolly, "Keith, take your siblings upstairs."
Keith, knowing this was grown-up talk, grabbed his siblings' hands and led them upstairs without a fuss.
Brenda clutched her chest, her voice shaky, "Ivan, what did you do to Martin?"
"He chose his own doom," Ivan said, still calm. "He's dead. I sent him straight to hell myself."
"What?" Brenda's eyes went wide, and she collapsed onto the sofa.
Ivan didn't hold back, "If I had sent him to court, he'd be in the abyss of suffering. A single bullet was a mercy."
"How could you? He was your brother!" Brenda cried out, her voice breaking. "He had a rough life from the start, never a day of peace or happiness. He deserved a chance to see a better day."
"He could dream of better days, but he shouldn't have tried to steal my happiness," Ivan's voice was ice-cold. "The Winston Family paid him back when he was fifteen. He could've had a different life, but he chose darkness. His fate was sealed."
Brenda lay on the sofa, sobbing like her heart was shattered.
Haley remembered two months ago when Ivan had vanished. Brenda had cried then too, but never like this.
Between her two sons, Brenda always chose the one she felt she owed the most. Wasn't this just another debt to Ivan?
"Father died because of him, so I didn't bury him in the Winston Family cemetery," Ivan said, his lips tight. "If you wanna pay your respects, I'll have someone take you there."
"You're too cruel. How can you be so heartless?" Brenda got up, stumbling towards Ivan, pounding on his chest. She cried and hit him, her sobs full of accusations and anger.
Haley pursed her lips and spoke coldly, "Brenda, Martin died because of both Ivan and me in Watertown. From now on, whenever you see us, you'll be reminded of Martin's tragic death, so..."
She paused, then said, "Brenda, go back to Country Y. Only then will you find peace."
Brenda stared blankly, tears streaming down her face.
She cried and laughed at the same time, "Haley, it's all because of you. If it weren't for you, Martin would never have come back to Watertown and fought Ivan. You witch, give Martin back to me."
Brenda rushed over and grabbed Haley by the collar. Haley frowned coldly.
