Chapter 759
As Ivan finished speaking, the room fell silent, with only the sound of the wind howling outside the window.
Haley looked at him and slowly said, "On the day of our wedding, you disappeared. Then he returned to the Winston family pretending to be you. He lived in your house, became my husband, the kids' daddy, and took over your company. Meanwhile, you were exiled here, bearing burdens that were never meant for you."
Her words echoed in Ivan's ears, triggering a rush of fragmented images.
Memories from the past flickered through like scenes from a movie.
Cold sweat dripped from his forehead.
"Ivan, what's wrong?" Haley quickly stepped forward to support his arm.
"My head hurts." Ivan closed his eyes. "Many memories are buried deep, and I can't remember anything."
"If you can't remember, then don't push it," Haley hugged him and said softly. "You just need to remember that you are my husband, the father of the kids, and you have a happy, complete family. So, you must quickly deal with the matters in Hinterlands so that our family can be reunited."
Ivan knew how painful the process of forcibly recalling memories could be, but he had to remember.
He didn't want to meet people from his past and know nothing, or even misunderstand his wife.
Seeing him in pain made Haley feel terrible as well.
She sighed and said, "Let's deal with the Black Gang first, then we can talk about Martin. At least he's not as troublesome as the Black Gang."
"I'm sorry for putting you through this." Ivan hugged Haley tightly.
He had just had a brief encounter with Martin, who had the smell of blood on him, clearly someone who had blood on his hands.
He couldn't believe how she, a woman, managed to deal with Martin.
She had to deal with Martin, take care of the kids, and still search for his whereabouts in the midst of it all.
How fortunate he was to have a wife like Haley.
Ivan lowered his head and kissed Haley's eyes, his thin lips slowly moving down, gently biting her flushed lips.
Haley responded to his passionate kiss.
Suddenly, the door opened a crack.
"Quick, close your eyes!"
"Keith, move! I haven't seen Daddy yet!"
"Daddy and Mommy are kissing. Kids shouldn't look."
"No, I want to see! I saw it! Daddy and Mommy are kissing!"
The voices of the kids came through, and Haley quickly pulled away from Ivan's embrace. She turned her head to see the kids standing at the door, covering their eyes with their hands but peeking through their fingers.
Haley's face turned completely red.
'How did I forget to lock the door? The kids had witnessed such an intimate moment.'
"Why did Daddy and Mommy stop?" Owen asked curiously. "We promise not to peek."
"Yeah, we won't peek," Angela echoed, covering her eyes with her hands.
Haley coughed and asked, "Why are you all awake?"
"We heard noises from Mommy's room and guessed that Daddy must be here," Keith answered obediently. "Daddy and Mommy can continue your date. We'll go back to our room."
Angela looked reluctant. "But Daddy hasn't hugged me yet."
Ivan stared blankly at the the kids in front of him, unable to process what he was seeing for a long time.
