Chapter 570
Haley had been working since four in the morning. Now, every one of her bones ached from exhaustion.
Ivan kissed Haley's forehead tenderly and said, "After the wedding, I'll take you home to rest properly."
"No matter how tired I am, we only have this one day." Haley nestled in Ivan's arms and softly said, "You were just discharged from the hospital not long ago, so you should drink a little less later."
"I'll definitely do as you say, Darling." Ivan kissed her face again and then turned to the adjacent dressing room to change clothes.
Haley's gown was intricate. Two stylists helped her put it on, followed by a makeup touch-up.
Her gown was pure white with exquisite embroidery from head to toe. She looked stunning.
After adjusting her makeup in the mirror, she walked out of the dressing room and knocked on the door next door.
The makeup artist next door respectfully said, "Ivan changed into his clothes half an hour ago. He’s probably in the lobby now greeting the guests."
Haley nodded in thanks, lifted her skirt, and headed toward the lobby.
She stood at the entrance and scanned the entire banquet hall but didn't see the striking Ivan.
Ivan was like a beam of light. Wherever he went, he seemed to emit a dazzling radiance that was hard to look at directly.
She should have seen him at a glance.
"Mommy, you look so beautiful!"
"Mommy, what's that thing on your head? It looks so pretty!"
The children appeared out of nowhere, surrounding Haley.
Haley smiled and said, "This is a crown, a very beautiful piece of jewelry that goes well with my gown. Angela, if you like it, I'll give it to you after the wedding."
Angela smiled happily and said, "Thank you, Mommy."
"By the way, where's your daddy?" Haley asked with a smile. Now that the guests were seated, she and Ivan should enter the hall, according to the plan.
Keith blinked and said, "I just saw him heading outside the hotel. I'm not sure what he's up to."
Todd nodded and said, "He seemed to be in a hurry."
Haley furrowed her brow.
For some reason, her chest suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable. She felt as if something bad was about to happen.
"Haley, you've finally changed into your clothes." Brenda suddenly appeared before Haley, walking over with a smile.
She said, "Ivan had something to attend to, so I'll accompany you through the ceremony as planned."
Haley pursed her lips and said, "What did Ivan have to do?"
Was there something more important than the wedding?
"The Winston Group's church caught fire." Brenda lowered her voice. "It's not a big deal, but historically, only direct descendants of the Winston family can enter the church, so Ivan had to go there in person."
Haley's sense of unease grew stronger.
She took out her phone and said, "I'll call Ivan."
Brenda's eyes flickered as she smiled. "Alright, do it quickly. The guests are waiting for you."
Haley stepped aside and dialed Ivan's number.
The phone rang twice before Ivan's familiar voice answered on the other end.
