Chapter 89 Missed Bidding Opportunity

Emily sprained her foot and spent the whole afternoon working in her study. With Haley suddenly returning to their home country, Emily had been preoccupied with dealing with her. As a result, many company matters were neglected. If she didn't work harder now, there was a high possibility that Haley would replace her.

After dinner, Emily continued to revise documents. This was a bidding proposal for the DeRoss Group, and the bidder was their long-time business partner. This bidding process was merely a formality and would ultimately belong to the DeRoss Group alone.

Such simple tasks were always assigned to Emily because they always succeeded without fail. Once she completed this, she would be the primary contributor to this project. Resting against her chair, Emily gave one final check of the bid proposal and, overall, found no problems.

However, at that very moment, the document on her computer screen disappeared before her eyes. The lines and paragraphs she had typed painstakingly throughout the afternoon turned into fragments of snowflakes, leaving the whole document blank.

"What's going on? What happened?" Emily widened her eyes and quickly called Keith on her phone. "Keith, please help me check my computer. Has it been infected with a virus!?"

Keith happened to be working as well and promptly wrote a series of codes to access Emily's computer.

"Mother, your computer was implanted with a Trojan virus, three hours ago. I have removed it, and now your computer is functioning normally."

Emily breathed a sigh of relief. "What about my files? Have they been recovered?"

"The files can be restored, but it will take at least three days." Keith said calmly.

"No, I need this file tomorrow morning. It must be recovered tonight!" Emily's voice started to lose control. "Keith, you're a skilled hacker, you must have a way to recover it, right?"

Keith pondered for a moment before speaking, "Mother, the other party is also a skilled hacker, and their Trojan virus is exceptionally powerful."

In other words, it was impossible to recover the file tonight. Emily was furious.

"Keith, someone is plotting against me! Just this afternoon, as I was leaving, a car brushed past me. It was so close; I could have been killed by that car! Since that person failed to assassinate me, they hired a hacker to attack my computer!”

“I need this file by 8 AM tomorrow morning. Without it, how can the DeRoss Group participate in the bidding? This is a multimillion-dollar project! It's all going to waste!"

"Mother, I will investigate and find out who is behind this. Please rest assured." Hanging up the phone, Keith abruptly ended the conversation.

...

After dropping off the kids at preschool, Haley drove to the DeRoss Group. As soon as she entered the office, she heard a group of employees chatting in the pantry.

"Our General Manager is really incompetent. Even the projects that were certain have fallen through. I'm truly amazed," one employee said.

"We have a bidding session for this project every year, and the DeRoss Group always wins. But this year... ha!"

"Emily is the future successor of the DeRoss Group. Shouldn't this project be entrusted to her?"

“The real heir is clearly Haley. Emily is just a Cuckoo in the nest.”

"Cough, cough, cough!"
