Chapter 866
Ivan had met Cauth many times before, but never as a son-in-law.
"Mr. Winston." Cauth got up all chill and shook Ivan's hand.
Ivan, playing it cool, said, "Cauth, just call me Ivan."
Cauth's lips twitched into a slight smile.
Guess his bond with Haley was solid enough for Cauth to drop the formalities.
"Dad, what brings you here?" Haley set a cup of tea in front of Cauth, smiling.
"Bryan told me you fainted. Wanted to check on you at the hospital yesterday, but got caught up." Cauth looked at her, all worried. "Feeling better after a night's rest?"
"Way better, nothing major." Haley sighed, "I wanted to check out the project site, but Ivan made me stay home. It's so dull here."
Cauth, all serious, said, "Listen to Ivan and rest. Bryan's got the project covered. If not, there's me and your grandpa. No need to stress."
Ivan nodded, "Haley said she'd be back to work in three days. I think she needs at least a week."
"More like two weeks," Cauth said firmly. "Haley, be good and rest for two weeks."
Haley went quiet. Why were Cauth and Ivan suddenly on the same team?
She wasn't some new mom needing a two-week break. That'd be way too boring.
But she knew they were just worried, so she gave a noncommittal response just to get by.
Then, Cauth and Ivan started talking about the project and the situation in Watertown.
Haley yawned, leaning back on the sofa, looking sleepy.
Cauth took the hint and stood up, "Let Haley rest. I'll head out. Call me if you need anything."
Ivan nodded and saw Cauth out.
When he got back, Haley was out cold on the sofa.
He shook his head, smiling, and gently carried her to the bed.
As he tucked her in, her pink phone started buzzing. It was Thomas. Ivan frowned, took the phone out of the room, and answered.
"Haley, I found the person you were looking for."
Ivan, still cool, said, "Who did Haley ask you to find?"
"Ivan? Why are you answering? Where's Haley?" Thomas sounded surprised. "Put her on."
"She's not feeling well and is resting. Tell me what's up."
Thomas hesitated, then said, "Haley asked me to find Isabel's old crew. I found a maid who used to work for Isabel, but she doesn't know anything about the Bio-intelligent Chip."
Ivan's eyes narrowed. So Haley was digging into this too.
He suspected Martin, but Haley was looking at Isabel.
Quillan had the Bio-intelligent Chip figured out, and Isabel was definitely a suspect.
"Send the maid to Jared, have him bring her to Watertown. I want to question her myself," Ivan said, his voice low.
