Chapter 374
Just as Emily hung up, Haley called again, her name flashing persistently on the screen. Emily's head buzzed with anxiety. This call from Haley – could it be to reveal the truth to Keith? If Keith learned about what had happened years ago, then she truly had no way out...
"I'm telling you one more time. Give me the phone!" Keith's voice turned icy.
Emily cut the call off once more and then turned the phone off... She lifted her head, her eyes glinting with a blend of despair and Something ominousmalicious.
At the Winston family mansion, Haley, phone in hand, made a couple of calls, only to be greeted by a mechanical, cold female voice announcing revealing that the other party had switched off their phone.
"Is Big BroKeith still not picking up?" Owen asked, tilting his head with a touch of worry.
"That's odd." Alfred scratched his chin."His phone is usually always on. Could the battery be dead? But he should be back soon; let's wait a bit longer."
For some reason, Haley couldn't shake off an uneasy feeling. She was not even in the mood to make dinner.an uneasiness that even robbed her of the mood to make dinner.
She pursed her lips and said, "Alfred, do you have Keith's assistant or secretary's number? Call them and ask."
Alfred nodded and immediately dialed Russell's number.
"Miss DeRoss left the office with him, and I don't know where they went..."
"Which Miss DeRoss?"
"Emily Miss DeRoss. She was a bit odd today, very assertive, like Something had happened..."
Haley's frown deepened as she listened to the voice on the other end of the line. Emily took Keith away? Where to? What for? Why was the unease in her heart intensifying?
Haley paced in the living room, eventually caving and calling Ivan's cell phone. It rang several times before it was picked up, a man's chilled and deep voice coming through, "Give me another ten minutes, and I'll be back."
Haley clenched her fingers and said, "Have you been in touch with Keith?"
She had barely finished her sentence when she heard a man's voice on the line that wasn't Ivan's.
Ivan, we can talk about anything at length." The voice was a bit distant and not very clear, but Haley recognized the timbre immediately—it belonged to Mr. DeRoss.
Why was Ivan with Mr. DeRoss?
Then, she heard Flora speaking, "Emily is sincerely devoted to you, and she gives her all to the two kids as well..."
Haley was taken aback.
That man didn't go to pick up Angela from preschool, and she had thought he might have sSomething important come up, but now he was with Mr. DeRoss and Flora.
And it seemed to be about Emily?
She didn't have time to ponder. Indifferently, she said, "When you have a moment, get in touch with Keith and ask where he is."
After finishing her sentence, she ended the call.
