Chapter 843

"Why're you all silent?" Haley asked, flashing a sly grin. "Anyone would like to join me on this resort gig?"

The room went dead quiet.

The folks who hadn't spoken up were hesitant to dive into the Lumi Group's power play. They knew picking the wrong side could mess up their future at the company.

Ava chimed in with a sweet smile, "Haley, how about I send a couple of people your way? You can't tackle this beast solo."

A big project needed a whole squad, at least a dozen heads. No way a lone wolf could pull it off.

Ava felt pretty chill knowing Hollis had a tight grip on the Lumi Group. With one command from Hollis, no one would dare cross her.

If Haley wanted to go head-to-head for the heir spot, Ava would make sure she crashed and burned, turning her into the Lumi Group's biggest joke. Ava's smile got even wider.

Then, a dude in his thirties, sitting in the corner, spoke up kinda nervously, "I'm Lester Wells, the marketing manager. I did the market report for the resort project, so I know it inside out. Hope Mrs. Deross can give me a shot."

Haley gave a small smile, "Mr. Wells, thanks for having faith in me. Let's make this work."

She thought no one would back her, but hey, she still had some pull.

After Lester stepped up, another deputy manager from a different department also threw his hat in the ring. In the end, it was just the two of them.

Haley didn't sweat it. Even if she was flying solo, she was sure she could nail the project.

Hollis didn't give a damn about these two small fries siding with Haley. She smiled and asked, "Anyone else wanna jump on the resort project?"

The room stayed silent.

Hollis said cheerfully, "The petrochemical project is a big deal, so thanks for all your hard work and dedication."

Ava stood up, all fake politeness and grace, "I'm young and green, so I hope to learn a lot from you all. I'll work hard and won't let you down."

And just like that, the high-level meeting wrapped up. Hollis and Ava left the room with their squads, ready to rumble.

The conference room emptied out fast. Bark said in a serious tone, "Haley, don't think I'm playing favorites. The Lumi Group's all about fairness and choice. I can't force anyone to work on the resort project."

Haley nodded, "I wouldn't want anyone forced onto my team either. Who knows if they'd try to sabotage it?"

Bark nodded, looking pleased. During the meeting, Haley was on the back foot, but she stayed cool, classy, and collected, like she could handle anything.

Bark hadn't thought much of Haley before. He'd let her run for heir 'cause she was willing to protect Cauth and Bryan.

But now, Bark had to admit he was starting to dig his granddaughter.

Even though Haley hadn't grown up in the Lumi Family, she had the grace and poise that a Lumi should have.
