Chapter 652

Martin killed Haley's newlywed husband, and she must seek justice!

"Haley, listen to me, don't be impulsive!" Brenda grabbed her wrist once again. "Ivan is already dead. If his death is made public, the kids will be left without father; the Winston Group will lose its backbone, and the honor of the Winston family will collapse in an instant. From then on, no one will protect you; no one will protect the kids. Do you really want to see that happen?

"Martin has lived in darkness for the past twenty years. He cherishes the happy life he has now. He promised me he would be good to you and the kids. He will be a qualified father," Brenda pleaded. "Haley, just think of Martin as Ivan. Try to love Martin, live a good life and protect the kids together. That would be great! Please, Haley!"

Haley pried Brenda's fingers off one by one.

She said slowly and firmly, "I won't pretend nothing happened just for my own happiness. If the kids knew about this, they would never let someone who killed their father protect them. Brenda, Martin is your son, but he has nothing to do with me. I won't let him go."

"Haley, the kids are so young. Do you really want to tell them the truth?" Brenda cried bitterly. "They are only four years old. Do you want them to live with hatred for the rest of their lives? I may be an unqualified mother, but if you do this, what makes you any different from me?"

Haley bit her lower lip hard.

Even when she tasted blood, she didn't let go.

Upon seeing Haley remain silent, Brenda said, "Haley, at least give the kids a happy childhood, okay?"

Haley glanced at Brenda and then walked heavily upstairs.

She slammed the door shut and locked it, then slid to the ground, leaning against the door.

After an unknown amount of time, her phone vibrated.

Haley glanced at it; it was a video call from the kids. She quickly went to the bathroom, tidied her hair, washed her face, and then answered the call.

"Mommy, why did you take so long to answer?"

"Mommy, I miss you."

"Mommy, why are your eyes so red? Have you been crying?"

"Mommy, what happened to your lip? It's still bleeding!"

The kids' voices were filled with concern.

Haley smiled lightly and said, "I accidentally bit my lip while eating, and the chili pepper got into the wound. It made me tear up, but it's nothing serious. Don't worry so much."

The kids finally felt relieved.

Owen asked cheerfully, "Mommy, when will you finish your work and come pick us up?"

Angela blinked her big eyes and said, "Yeah, Mommy, I miss Daddy."

Angela's sweet words almost made Haley lose her composure.

She took a deep breath and said, "Your daddy is very busy with work. When he's done, I'll have him call you."

"Mommy, you have dark circles under your eyes. Get some rest," Todd said softly.

Haley couldn't hold back her tears anymore. She forced a smile and said, "Okay, I'll hang up now. You all be good."

After the call ended, a layer of coldness covered Todd's face.
