Chapter 10: Just About to Explain
Mary thought, 'How would I know!'
Just as Mary was trying to explain, she saw the coldness in his eyes and suddenly realized that no matter how she explained, it would not work. She found it a bit ridiculous. How could someone become such a different man after regaining memory? Or perhaps the Matthew she knew before was never who he really was?
"You're hurting me!"Feeling pain in her wrist, Mary frowned.
Instinctively, Matthew let go of her hand. As Mary's skin was delicate, even a little force would leave marks. At this moment, there were already several finger marks on her wrist. These kinds of marks had often appeared on Mary's waist before.
Matthew's eyes darkened even more."Mary, I'm only sparing you for the sake of the past year we've had together. Don't push me."
"What do you want?" Mary stared at him. "Do you want to kill me? If you have the guts, do it!"
Facing the shimmering stubbornness in Mary's eyes, Matthew's heart suddenly skipped a beat! Outside the door of the hospital room, the atmosphere was tense!
Mary curled her lips into a smile, "Matthew, I won't divorce you. Now that your grandmother only takeme as her granddaughter-in-law, this marriage is even more unbreakable!"
Matthew exuded a chilling coldness and suddenly approached her.
Mary immediately stepped back, "What are you doing? Are you going to hit me? I'm telling you, if you do so, your grandmother will know!"
Matthew looked at her incredulously. He couldn't understand what was in her mind! What was so wrong with a divorce? She could ask for anything she wanted, and Matthew would satisfy her for sure!
Matthew felt very irritated; he knew it wasn't just because Mary had refused to divorce.
"Matthew."
At this moment, a middle-aged woman walked over, who was Matthew's stepmother, Linda Montagu. She was surprised at first sight of Mary and said, "You must be Matthew's wife, Mary, right?"
Mary was astonished, "You know who I am?"
Linda smiled gently, "You were very close, shopping as a couple when we found Matthew, so we put on a thorough investigation. I'm sorry for doing that without your permission, but it was for Matthew's safety."
"Why don't you go and check up on grandma?"Matthew interrupted at this moment.
Mary instinctively turned to him; it seemed like he didn't want her to get too close to his family.
Linda said with a smile, "Okay, I'll leave you two here."
She pushed the door and went in. Victoria saw Mary through the gap and immediately reached out for her, "Sweetheart, come here."
Linda was surprised, "Mom, you know Mary?"
Victoria nodded, "Of course I know her. She's Matthew's wife, my granddaughter-in-law!"
Glancing at Matthew's darkening face, Mary couldn't help herself but laugh out loud.
Matthew couldn't say a word, thinking, 'So annoying!'
With Victoria and Linda present, Matthew couldn't lose his temper and went back to the room with Mary.
Linda said with a smile, "Grandma Victoria got lost and ran into Mary. Isn't that destined? Matthew, why don't you come home together for dinner tonight and introduce Mary to us."
Matthew said coldly, "No, we are not."
Linda was confused, "Why?"
Matthew replied coldly, "We're getting divorced soon."
