Chapter 142 I'll Thank Your Whole Family
Mary threw together a quick meal and plopped down at the dining table, mindlessly scrolling through her phone.
'Where's Matthew? What's taking him so long? Where could he be?' Her mind started to drift. She clutched her phone, replaying his words from earlier.
She had to keep him happy to get that divorce. Otherwise, she'd be stuck in this mess forever.
Taking a deep breath, Mary called Matthew.
After three rings, someone picked up. "When are you coming back?" Mary asked bluntly.
"You homewrecker! Matthew loves Laura. Why do you keep clinging to him? Because of you, they can't be together, and now Laura's depressed!" It wasn't Matthew but some angry woman.
Mary's face turned icy. "Are you talking out of your ass?"
Cindy Walker's voice grew furious. "How dare you insult me?"
Mary smirked. "No, I'm just reminding you to get a dentist. I can smell you from here. And get this straight: it's not me clinging to Matthew. He won't divorce me. If you can convince him, I'd say thanks a lot, you and your whole family!" With that, Mary hung up.
Disgusting! She regretted making that call.
Mary sat down to eat but suddenly lost her appetite.
Laura's depressed. So, was Matthew with her?
Mary stood up and walked to the balcony. She watched the sunset, hoping Laura could convince Matthew to divorce.
Mary was done with this twisted love triangle. It was pointless.
At the hospital, Cindy stared at the phone, fuming.
The next moment, Matthew snatched it from her.
"How dare you touch my phone?" Matthew's eyes were cold as he checked the call log.
Mary called, and Cindy answered.
He could guess what Cindy had said, and his expression darkened.
Cindy glared at him. "That woman said you're the one refusing to divorce. Is that true?"
Matthew's eyes narrowed. "Watch your mouth. You have no idea what could happen."
Cindy's anger flared. "Are you threatening me because I insulted her? Matthew, are you really the one who won't divorce? What about Laura? She lost a leg for you, and now she's depressed. If I hadn't come in time today, she'd be dead already!"
Cindy's rage grew. "Matthew, if anything happens to Laura, I won't let you off!"
Matthew's stare was icy. "Who do you think you are?"
Cindy's eyes widened in disbelief. "You..."
"Cindy." Laura's weak voice came from the hospital room.
Cindy shot Matthew a resentful look and went inside. "Laura, you're awake. You have no idea how scared I was when I found you. How could you do that to yourself?"
