Chapter 624 You Say You Love Me, You Miss Me

"Mary?" Matthew called out, but there was no response from the other end of the line.

Only the sound of steady breathing could be faintly heard.

He chuckled softly, turned on the speakerphone, and didn't hang up. As he listened to the breathing, his restless heart suddenly calmed down.

If she were by his side at this moment, he would feel even more at ease.

The next day.

Mary opened her eyes and instinctively picked up her phone to check messages, only to find that it had automatically shut down.

What happened?

How did it shut down?

Mary looked at her phone in confusion, plugged it in to charge, and waited for it to turn on.

Soon, many messages popped up, and she discovered that she had talked to Matthew on the phone for four hours last night!

From 3 AM to 7 AM!

A full four hours!

Mary was even more confused. Did she make a call?

She had no memory of it at all.

At that moment, there was a knock on the door.

Then, Shirley pushed the door open, poked her head in, and seeing that Mary was awake, said, "Honey, I bought breakfast. Come out and eat."

"Okay." Mary nodded, scratched her head, and got up to wash up.

When she came out, she asked, "Did I get drunk and act crazy last night?"

Shirley replied, "No, you were very well-behaved last night. You fell asleep shortly after returning to your room."

Really?

Then how did she end up talking to Matthew for so long?

The key point was she didn't remember anything she said.

Shirley asked, "What's wrong?"

Mary shook her head, "Nothing."

After having milk and bread, Mary left for work.

While taking the elevator, she ran into Matthew.

The man was dressed in a silver-gray suit, looking handsome and charming, exuding an aura of cold elegance.

Mary glanced at him in confusion but didn't ask anything.

Matthew noticed her gaze and looked at her, "Mary, do you remember what you said last night?"

Mary's expression froze. So, she really did say a lot of things she shouldn't have?

"I was drunk," Mary said. "I don't remember."

Matthew smirked, "It's okay, I remember. I can help you recall."

"No need," Mary rejected him decisively.

If she forgot, then just let it be. Why bother making her remember?

Matthew gave her a deep look, "You said you love me; you miss me."

"Impossible."

Almost instantly, Mary directly denied his words.

There was no way she would say something like that.

But Matthew said, "You also said you were drunk. You've forgotten. How do you know you didn't say it?"

Mary replied, "Because I don't love you."

Her expression was very calm, as if she were stating a very ordinary fact.

Matthew's face darkened, but only for a moment. He looked away, "I have a recording."

Mary's calm expression cracked, "What did you say?"

He had a recording?

Did she really say that?

But how could that be?

She didn't love him anymore!

At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and Matthew's tall figure walked out.

Seeing this, Mary immediately followed, "Where's the recording? I want to hear it."

Without hearing the recording, she still didn't believe it.

Matthew gave her a cool glance, "Why should I let you hear it? What if you delete it?"

"I..." Mary opened her mouth, wanting to say something, but Matthew had already gotten into his car and left.

She stood there, looking bewildered.
