Chapter 246 I Want To, So What?

Mary stopped talking and sat quietly on the couch, waiting for him to finish work.

She hadn't slept well last night with nowhere to lie down in the hospital. She arrived early this morning and was now utterly exhausted.

Without realizing it, she leaned back on the couch and fell asleep.

Matthew looked up from his work and saw her sleeping. Her pretty face showed signs of fatigue, and her brows were furrowed like she was having a nightmare.

He got up, walked over, and carefully looked at her face, inch by inch, passing over her nose, lips, and neck. The collar of her shirt was slightly open, revealing kiss marks that hadn't completely faded.

Matthew's eyes darkened.

He suddenly stood up, covered her with his jacket, and went back to work.

When Mary woke up, the room was dimly lit.

She was a bit confused and sat up. The jacket fell off her, and she was startled to see it was Matthew's.

Mary thought, 'I actually fell asleep!'

She grabbed Matthew's jacket and looked around for him, but he was nowhere to be seen.

She quickly stood up and called, "Matthew?"

Mary thought, 'Did he leave again? When will he come back? When will David's issue be resolved?'

She took out her phone to call Matthew, but the bedroom door opened. Matthew walked out with a towel wrapped around his waist, his upper body bare. His broad shoulders, narrow waist, and well-defined muscles were still glistening with water droplets, slowly trickling down and disappearing into the towel.

"Have you seen enough?"

Matthew's deep, magnetic voice rang out.

Mary snapped out of it and said, "Why are you showering at this hour?"

"It's only 6:30 PM!" she murmured.

Matthew replied, "I want to. Is that a problem?"

Mary took a deep breath and asked, "Are you done with your work? Can we talk about David now?"

Matthew picked up a glass of water, took a sip, and said indifferently, "I have a social event later. Come with me, and if you behave, I'll consider letting him go."

Mary frowned. "Can't you just say you'll let him go if I behave?"

She thought, 'Why did he have to add "consider"? What if he decides not to let David go after considering it?'

Matthew looked at her mockingly. "You're quite smart."

He nodded towards the other side of the couch. "Go change into that dress."

Mary followed his gaze and saw a dress lying there.

She picked it up and went into the room to change.

Fortunately, the dress was modest, highlighting her figure while covering the ambiguous marks.

When she came out, she saw Matthew had put on a suit. He was adjusting his watch, exuding an aura of elegance that was hard to ignore.

Mary's long eyelashes fluttered as she suppressed her emotions and asked, "What kind of social event is it?"

Matthew replied, "You'll find out when we get there."

His gaze fell on Mary's face. She wasn't wearing any makeup, and her lips looked a bit pale. He walked over to her, grabbed the back of her head, and kissed her.

Matthew's kiss was fierce.

Mary couldn't handle it and instinctively pushed him away.

The next second, his kiss moved to her ear, and he whispered in a low voice.
