Chapter 50 She was Stunned
Mary was stunned!
What was happening?
Had he lost his mind?
Mary struggled violently, but at that moment, the vast difference in strength between a man and a woman became apparent. With just a few struggles, she inadvertently triggered his aggression. He grabbed both of her wrists with one hand and pressed them against her head.
His hot breath trailed down from the corner of her lips.
Mary's eyes widened, "Matthew, what the heck are you doing?"
Wasn't he sick?
But looking at his lively demeanor, he didn't seem ill at all.
Or perhaps he mistook Mary for someone else, didn't he?
Mary thought, 'Did he mistake me for Laura?'
At the thought, a sharp pain pierced Mary's heart, and she suddenly kneed him!
All his movements halted, and Matthew's heavy body collapsed onto hers.
"Get up!" Mary exclaimed as she squirmed uncomfortably.
But Matthew, in anger, bit down on her collarbone, "Mary, what are you trying to do?"
Did he even know who she is?
"Are you mistaken? We're getting divorced soon," Mary's breathing was erratic.
"Get up!" She repeated the words.
Her push was so feeble. She just wanted to snap Matthew out of it.
But Matthew didn't get up; he continued to loom heavily over her.
"What are you doing here?"
After a while, Mary heard his hoarse, low voice in her ear.
Mary replied, "You should ask yourself why you called Michael and ended up reaching me."
Matthew fell silent again.
Feeling uncomfortable being held like this, Mary shifted, "Let go of me!"
"So you can run?" He suddenly said something inexplicable.
Mary was stunned, "Matthew, are you clear-headed or not?"
Wasn't he getting a divorce from her?
Wasn't he supposed to be accountable to Laura?
Why was he speaking something so ambiguous?
Did he even know what he was saying?
Matthew lifted his head, and this time, Mary saw that his dark eyes were still cloudy and lacking clarity. He wasn't lucid.
"What is wrong with you?"
Mary frowned.
"Uncomfortable." Matthew suddenly said, his voice slightly hoarse.
Then, he slowly moved closer to her, as if probing, and kissed the corner of her lips. "Help me?"
Mary was stunned, her heart trembling.
While she was in a daze, he kissed her again, "Hmm?"
He kept asking while kissing, demanding an answer.
Mary should have refused.
She should have stood up and left without hesitation.
But they hadn't divorced yet.
Doing what married couples do wasn't illegal.
Mary's long lashes quivered. When he kissed her again, she tilted her head slightly, offering her tender lips.
As if in response, this time, Matthew didn't pull away but deepened the kiss.
Their breaths became heated, and the room temperature rose.
Mary closed her eyes, thinking that this might be the last time she indulged like this with him, so she might as well let it.
At least tonight, he belonged to her.
The next day.
Mary opened her eyes as the sky was brightening, and the events of the previous night flooded her mind. Her lips pressed into a thin line.
Mary turned to look at Matthew, who was still asleep. She quietly lifted the covers and prepared to leave.
But the next second, an arm suddenly wrapped around her waist and pulled her back.
