Chapter 204 You Think Too Much

Before Matthew got his memory back, he used to buy her flowers, hot cocoa, and little gifts. They weren't pricey, but he always thought of her.

Whenever he saw something nice, he shared it with her first. She was his number one. How could she forget and stop loving the old Matthew?

Feeling a pang in her heart, Mary snapped out of her memories. That Matthew was gone, replaced by this cold, detached, moody version. Mary took a sip from her cup, trying to shake off the chill in her heart.

After half an hour, Matthew finally got in the car, bringing a chill with him. Mary, holding her cup and looking at her phone, put it away when she saw him. Her attitude softened a bit. No matter what, he had saved her.

"Thanks for tonight."

Matthew's eyes narrowed. "Is that all?"

Mary bit her lip, picked up the hot cocoa, and said, "Thanks, this was really good."

Matthew raised an eyebrow and wondered, 'When did I buy her cocoa?'

But seeing the light in her eyes, he let it slide. He placed one hand on the steering wheel, showing off his strong wrist.

"Anything else?"

Sensing the tension in the car, Mary froze and stayed silent. Even though he saved her, it didn't fix their relationship.

Seeing her silence, Matthew got irritated. He grabbed her chin, making her look at him. "What? You can't even talk to me?"

His irritation grew, and his face darkened.

Mary's eyelashes fluttered. "Matthew, aren't we going home?" She remembered he said they'd sleep together once, then he'd approve her resignation.

She just wanted to end things quickly. Being away from him would hurt less.

Matthew's grip tightened. "Mary, are you ungrateful? I just saved you, and you still want to quit?" His voice was low and cold.

Mary looked up. "What can I do? You've already agreed to marry Ms. Griffin. Do you still want to mess with me?" She gave a bitter smile. "Matthew, do you really want to be a total jerk?"

Matthew's face turned cold, his gaze dark. "Are you happy I'm marrying her?"

Mary said, "Whether I'm happy or not doesn't matter. I can't change your decisions. We're like hedgehogs. It's better to divorce early. If we separate, no one gets hurt."

"You think too much."

Matthew sneered, letting go of her chin and starting the car, heading to Montagu Mansion. The car ride was tense and cold, prompting Mary to clutch her hot cocoa cup tighter.

They arrived at Montagu Mansion. Matthew said coldly, "Get out." He slammed the car door, clearly upset. Mary got out and followed him.

Matthew turned and saw her still holding the hot cocoa cup. It annoyed him. "Throw that away. I never buy such junk."
