Chapter 767 Deliberately Neglecting Her

Maria glared at her phone, gritting her teeth.

"Ugh, these capitalists!"

Mary had sent the first draft to Kurt, and within an hour, he had replied that it wasn't the vibe he was looking for.

Mary frowned and exchanged emails with Kurt for a long time, but they still couldn't agree.

She decided to meet Kurt in person.

Kurt readily agreed, and they arranged to meet at a newly opened club in Lindwood City.

That evening, Mary arrived at the club's entrance, only to be stopped by the doorman.

"Sorry, Miss, you need a reservation to get in."

The doorman wore a polite smile, but his eyes held a hint of disdain as he looked at Mary.

Mary was dressed simply, in a knitted sweater, jeans, and a versatile coat. Her long hair fell over her shoulders, and she wore no makeup except for a touch of lip gloss, the only color on her.

With Christmas approaching, the weather was getting colder, and Mary felt the biting wind as she stood at the entrance.

She took out her phone and called Kurt, but his line was busy.

Helpless, she could only wait at the door.

Despite being newly opened, the club seemed to be doing well. Mary watched several groups of people enter over the next hour.

Seeing that Mary hadn't left, the doorman's disdain became more apparent.

"Miss, this isn't a place for just anyone. You should leave."

His expression suggested she was hindering their business.

Mary looked up at him and said, "What's the difference between us? We're both just working."

Where did his sense of superiority come from?

The doorman's face fell for a moment, then he looked away.

Another hour passed, and it was completely dark. Mary was freezing.

She tried to call Kurt again, but her phone had shut down.

It had frozen.

Mary rubbed her hands together, blowing warm breath onto her fingers.

Two and a half hours later, a car pulled up to the club. Kurt's bulky frame emerged, and seeing her at the entrance, he hurried over. "Ms. Smith, have you been waiting here for me? I'm so sorry, my previous meeting ran late. Come on, let's get inside before you freeze."

Kurt looked genuinely concerned and shot an annoyed glance at the doorman. "What's going on? Making a guest wait outside? What if something happened? Could you take responsibility?"

The doorman quickly bowed his head. "Yes, yes, my mistake."

Mary didn't dwell on it and followed Kurt inside. The luxurious decor and subtle scent of incense filled the air.

As soon as they entered, the warmth enveloped her, chasing away the cold. Mary felt herself coming back to life.

They entered a private room.

Kurt called for a waiter and smiled at Mary. "Ms. Smith, what would you like to eat?"

Mary smiled politely. "I'm fine with anything, Mr. Lowe. You decide."

Kurt said, "Bring out all your signature dishes."

"Right away."

The waiter nodded and left.

Once the door closed, Kurt looked at her with concern. "Ms. Smith, are you okay? Did you get too cold?"

Mary's fingers were still a bit chilly, but she was warming up. "I'm alright, Mr. Lowe. So, what are your thoughts on the winery?"
