Chapter 299 Infecting Him
When Mary was about to crash, her phone buzzed. She cracked an eye open and saw it was Matthew calling.
'Why's he hitting me up this late?' she wondered.
She picked up, still half-asleep, "Hey, what's up?"
Matthew's voice was icy, "Open the door."
Mary blinked in surprise. "You're back?"
His tone got even frostier, "Where else would I be?"
Mary let out a small laugh, "Thought you weren't coming back."
As she talked, she shuffled to the door and opened it.
She was about to head back to bed when she felt a strong arm wrap around her waist, pulling her into a tight embrace.
Startled, she tried to wriggle free. "What are you doing?"
Matthew spun her around, pinned her against the wall, lifted her slightly, and kissed her hard.
Mary let out a soft moan as his warm breath brushed her neck, sending shivers down her spine.
She pushed him away. "Let go of me."
But Matthew bit her collarbone, his voice rough, "You're in my arms, why should I?"
"You!"
Mary was shocked, but Matthew carried her to the bedroom.
She was too weak from a cold to fight back, while he was clearly venting some pent-up feelings and his touch was rough.
Mary couldn't even speak.
The world spun, and she eventually blacked out.
It was a night of chaos.
The next morning, she woke up sore but with a clearer head.
Just then, she heard coughing nearby.
She turned to see Matthew pushing the door open, his handsome face unusually pale.
Seeing her awake, Matthew said coldly, "Get up and eat."
Mary slowly got up, looked at his face, and suddenly laughed.
Matthew frowned, his voice muffled, "What's so funny?"
"You deserve it," Mary said bluntly, then got out of bed and walked towards the guest room.
Matthew watched her leave, feeling a wave of frustration.
After a night of passion, her cold was gone, but she had passed it on to him.
What a twist.
When Mary finished freshening up and came out, she saw Matthew on the couch, with Michael reporting something to him.
During the conversation, Matthew occasionally coughed.
Mary ate her breakfast in silence, and after finishing, she said, "I want to leave Lindenville."
Matthew looked up at her immediately. "After everything, you still want to bail?"
Mary replied, "It's way more dangerous to stay here than to leave."
Matthew looked at her deeply. "What if I don't let you go?"
Mary said, "Then I won't leave."
Matthew was taken aback, not expecting her to be so straightforward.
Mary sat across from him and continued, "But why keep me around? If I piss you off to death, I'll be legally responsible."
Matthew looked at her coldly and suddenly started coughing violently.
His face turned red from the coughing, making him look even more strikingly handsome.
Michael said, "Mr. Montagu, please don't get worked up."
He then turned to Mary. "Ms. Smith, Mr. Montagu is also worried about your safety. Everything's about to be settled here. If you want to leave, why not leave with Mr. Montagu?"
