Chapter 368 Mr. Wright, Sign Here
Just as he finished talking, the doorbell rang.
Given his past experiences of being kicked out, Mark didn't rush to open the door. Instead, he peeked through the peephole.
Outside stood two guys in suits.
On the phone, Karen was still stammering, clearly scared.
The doorbell rang again, making Mark jump. He said, "Hold on, don't do anything crazy. I've got something to handle here."
He hung up and then opened the door. "Who are you?"
One of the suited men extended his hand with a smile. "Mr. Wright, hello. I'm Michael White, the executive assistant to the president of the DK Group. This is attorney Hubert Diaz. We're here to discuss something with you. Is now a good time?"
Mark eyed them warily. They weren't the landlords coming to evict him, so what did they want?
Mark stepped aside. "Come in."
Michael nodded slightly and, along with Hubert, entered the house and sat on the couch. Hubert placed two documents on the coffee table. Mark asked, "What's this?"
Michael smiled. "Mr. Wright, I believe you're aware that your account recently received three million dollars?"
Mark's brow furrowed immediately. "How do you know about that?"
Michael replied, "The money was transferred by us. Additionally, there's a seven-million-dollar check here. As long as you leave Lindwood City and sign these two agreements, the check is yours."
He placed a check next to the documents.
Mark's eyes widened in shock. He quickly picked up the documents and saw that they were two affidavits.
One was a promise not to harass the Montagu family anymore, and the other was an agreement to give up his parental rights to Gerald.
"What do you mean?" Mark's face darkened. "Are you trying to buy my son's life for ten million dollars?"
Despite his anger, Michael kept his cool. "Mr. Wright, please calm down. Everything is negotiable. These items Gerald stole are valued at over two hundred million dollars, which could get him a life sentence. I think you should take a look."
He pulled out another document listing the prices of various valuable items.
"Impossible." Mark didn't even glance at it, his face stern. "Gerald may not be capable, just a driver, but he would never steal!"
Michael's smile faded a bit. He took out an iPad and played a surveillance video. "Mr. Wright, this is the entire process of Gerald stealing."
Mark's expression almost crumbled, but he still picked up the iPad and watched closely.
In a luxurious house, Gerald tiptoed into a room and soon came out with his arms full of items.
Michael then produced another document. "These are the sales records and photos of the items he sold."
Mark's face fell instantly, his hands trembling. "How is this possible?"
Michael said, "Mr. Wright, the Montagu family didn't send him to the cops because he made a very serious mistake. They won't let him off easily. To avoid further trouble, I advise you to sign these two agreements and leave Lindwood City. That way, you can still maintain a peaceful life."
Michael's words carried a hint of threat by this point.
