Chapter 486 Divorce or not, it didn't matter to him at all!
Mary was a bit taken aback when she heard that and quickly said, "No need, Robert. I've already had dinner."
Robert shot back, "Well, you can still have a late-night snack, Mary. I'm really happy for you."
Mary replied, "Let's wait until everyone has some free time, and then we can all grab a meal together."
The implication was clear: she didn't want to eat alone with Robert.
Robert stayed quiet for a moment.
After a bit, he said, "Mary, you don't have to shut people down so harshly. Always leave yourself an out."
Mary felt a little pang inside, a feeling she couldn't quite describe. She smiled, "Robert, I get it."
Robert said, "Alright, if you want to have some fun, come to my bar. You can drink as much as you want there."
Mary replied, "Sure, I'll come with Shirley and drink all your booze!"
Robert laughed, "No problem."
After a few more pleasantries, they hung up.
Mary sat on the couch, staring at the fancy ceiling, and suddenly felt like having a drink.
Too bad Shirley was super busy right now.
She walked over to the fridge and froze.
It was packed with fresh ingredients, all her favorites. She tightened her grip on the fridge door.
After a moment, she grabbed some ingredients and headed to the kitchen to start cooking.
It had been ages since she had her own cooking, and she missed it.
She worked quickly, and within an hour, the food was ready.
She took off her apron and was about to sit down to eat when the doorbell rang.
Mary was puzzled. 'Who could it be at this hour? Only a few people know my address.'
She got up, looked through the peephole, and was stunned.
She opened the door and asked, "Why are you here?"
Matthew, with a cigarette between his fingers, had a handsome but sharp face with a calm and indifferent expression.
He looked at her with a hint of grievance in his eyes and asked, "What? Can't I come to see you after the divorce?"
Mary had no intention of letting him in. "It's better if you don't."
Matthew took a drag of his cigarette, his cheeks slightly hollowed, and his brows furrowed.
He then put out the cigarette and tossed it into the trash can, asking, "Did you cook?"
Mary replied, "No."
Matthew said, "You're lying. I can smell it."
Mary forced a smile, "Well, your nose is pretty good."
Matthew walked straight ahead, intending to enter.
Mary blocked him again, "It's not convenient."
Matthew looked down at her, "Not convenient? Hiding a man in here?"
Mary still wouldn't let him in, "Think whatever you want. It's just not convenient!"
Matthew sneered, "Then I really want to see what kind of man you're hiding."
As he spoke, a dangerous aura spread from him, and Mary felt a chill.
Before she could say anything, Matthew suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist, pulled her into his arms, and strode into the house.
"Matthew!"
Mary was furious. How could he be so shameless?
She had thought that after the divorce, they wouldn't have any contact, but she had underestimated his shamelessness!
Divorce or not, it didn't matter to him at all!
"Yes, I'm here."
Matthew responded calmly, holding her tightly.
