Chapter 64 Can You Stop Hating Me?
Matthew's expression was cold, his gaze fixed ahead. "The brakes have failed."
Mary's eyes widened in shock. She quickly grabbed onto the handrail. "What do we do now?"
"We might actually die together," Matthew said.
Mary's heart was pounding so hard it felt like it might burst. Suddenly, she said, "If that's the case, will Laura be very sad?"
Matthew glanced at her. "Why are you thinking about someone else at a time like this?"
"Watch the road!" Mary struggled to control her emotions so as not to distract Matthew from handling the situation.
"What else can I do? You've always felt responsible for her. She really is quite pitiful. She lost a leg saving you and waited for you for so long, only for you to end up dying with me."
Mary imagined the scene and could almost feel Laura's heartbreak.
"What about you?" Matthew asked in a deep voice.
Her? What about her?
Mary didn't lose a limb or a leg. What she lost was just a deeply ingrained love.
Mary suddenly felt like laughing. "I don't want to be the girl in a drama who loses love."
Thinking of that scenario, she shuddered.
Matthew's lips tightened into a straight line. The car was still speeding up, and the veins on the back of his hand bulged!
"Mary, do you regret saving me?" His deep voice broke the silence in the car, accompanied by the rapid beating of their hearts.
Mary's breath caught. She pondered, 'Did I regret?'
Initially, upon learning of his intentions, she must have regretted it, even resented him.
Why did they have to divorce just because he regained his memory?
But when she saw Laura's leg, all that regret and anger vanished.
"I don't regret it anymore," Mary said. "Meeting you might just be my fate."
Matthew chuckled softly, "Can I make it up to you?"
"What?" Mary was taken aback, a sense of foreboding creeping up on her.
"After today, can you stop hating me?" He asked.
Before Mary could respond, he suddenly jerked the steering wheel, and the car veered straight toward the guardrail!
What a risky way to force the car to stop! If the vehicle continued to run, no one could guarantee what would happen next!
It was a dangerous move. With one mistake, the car would crash into the guardrail, the front end would be destroyed, and both of them would die!
Mary had no time to think. She could only watch him, his tense expression as he manipulated the steering wheel. The car's side collided with the guardrail, slowing down, but the speed was still very fast!
Suddenly, there was a loud crash.
The guardrail ahead suddenly broke, and the car plunged straight down!
It was a forest below, and the car crashed into the trees, hitting one with force!
At that critical moment, Matthew jerked the steering wheel, hitting the tree on the driver's side and lightly scraping another on the passenger's side!
At the moment of impact, Mary couldn't help but scream uncontrollably!
The car finally came to a stop.
However, Matthew had fallen into unconsciousness.
"Matthew? Matthew?" Mary called out his name with concern.
Mary frantically unbuckled her seatbelt, reaching out to touch his face, and saw a wound on the left side of his head bleeding!
Mary's face turned pale with fear, tears streaming down instantly.
"Don't you dare die on me. What do you mean to make it up to me? Nonsense!" She exclaimed.
Frantically reaching for her phone, her fingers trembled as she dialed a number.
