Chapter 436 Will She Hold Him Responsible

The call ended.

The dining room had this faint smell of food hanging in the air.

Mary remained weirdly calm at all times—not sad or mad.

Matthew, on the other hand, looked more and more pissed, his hand shaking as he held the phone.

Every time, her indifferent attitude screamed that she didn't love him anymore!

Matthew suddenly got up and stormed out of the dining room.

It wasn't until she heard the car engine outside that Mary paused her eating. She stared at her plate for a few seconds, dazed, then went back to normal.

She figured her emotions were pointless.

He kept her tied down, never letting her have peace, but he was sweet to every other woman. Anyone could get his kindness.

So, why bother showing any feelings?

He definitely didn't love her.

If he did, how could he have done so many things that broke her heart?

Mary finished her breakfast and headed straight to work.

After a busy day, she grabbed some groceries and went to Shirley's place.

When she opened the door, she saw Shirley lounging on the sofa, watching a variety show. Shirley was laughing so hard, her camisole nightgown showed all the marks from a wild night.

Mary was quiet for a moment and then asked, "Didn't you go to work today?"

Shirley replied, "Took the day off."

Mary carried the groceries into the kitchen, put on an apron, and started cooking. "What do you want to eat?"

Shirley came over and hugged Mary. "Something spicy, I need some excitement."

Mary glanced at her. "Looks like you've had enough excitement."

Shirley pouted. "I didn't expect it to be like this, I just couldn't resist."

Mary hesitated for a moment and asked, "So what were you doing when you called me last night?"

Shirley replied, "By then, Herman and I were already kissing."

Mary was silent.

"Alright, go wait in the living room. I'll call you when it's ready," Mary said.

"Okay, love you!" Shirley made a big heart with her hands and went back to watching the show.

In the bar, the place was dark and closed off, filled with the smell of booze.

Matthew and Herman sat across from each other.

Herman took a sip of his drink, squinted, and asked, "Matthew, if a woman sleeps with a guy, will she expect him to take responsibility?"

Matthew shot Herman a cold look. "Who did you sleep with?"

Herman glanced at Matthew. "I didn't say it was me, don't jump to conclusions."

Matthew said, "But your face says it all."

Herman was silent.

Herman's mouth twitched, then he asked again, "So, will she expect him to take responsibility?"

Matthew was quiet for a moment and replied, "I don't know, I'm not a woman."

Herman shook his head. "She probably will. Women often develop a strange attachment to men they've slept with."

Herman sighed, clearly bothered by the whole thing.

Matthew downed his drink in one gulp and asked, "What do women really want?"

Herman responded, "I have no clue."

The small private room suddenly went silent.

Herman was still lost in the passion of last night. Shirley had a fiery personality, and she was just as fiery in bed.

Even when she was in pain, she refused to give in.

Herman thought, 'If she expects me to take responsibility, should I give her money or a house?'

After all, it was Shirley's first time with a guy, he had to show some sincerity.

But marrying her? No way.
