Shirley laughed and said, "Mary, I'm just an ordinary person without any big ambitions. Honestly, if it weren't for you, I probably wouldn't even know who Herman is, let alone have so many interactions with him. Life is short, so let's enjoy it while we can."
Mary listened to her words, knowing that even if they resisted, they couldn't stand up to Herman or Matthew.
If they wanted to, there were countless ways to go after them.

Shirley's thinking was correct.
Mary said, "As long as you've thought it through, I respect your choice."
"Mary, why don't we both stop struggling? These rich guys will get bored eventually. By then, we'll have money and can enjoy life around the world," Shirley began to persuade her.
Mary smiled helplessly and said, "Shirley, we have different personalities."
Shirley sighed, "If your personality were like mine, how could so many things have happened?"
Mary was an orphan and longed for more.

After hanging up the phone, Mary stared at the computer screen, lost in thought.
After a while, she snapped out of it and focused all her attention on her work.

Maria came over and said to her, "Mary, there's an event tonight. Come with me."
Mary asked in confusion, "What is the event?"
Recently, it seemed like there hadn't been any business parties or similar events in Lindwood City.
Maria smiled, "A private event."
Hearing this, Mary smiled slightly, "Then I won't go. You have fun."
But Maria grabbed her arm and pouted, "Come on, just go with me. It's a private event, but I barely got in. I'm not familiar with those big shots at all. You'll definitely handle it better than I would. Please come with me."
Mary asked, "What kind of private event is it?"
Maria said, "It seems to be a birthday party hosted by some corporation. I don't know them. I got in through connections. In our field, it's best to have some connections with big shots. They're very generous and you never know when we might need their help."
Mary thought about it and felt she had a point, "Alright then."
Maria smiled happily, "I knew you were the best. We'll head out in a bit."

Finishing the last stroke on the blueprint, Mary saved her work and then shut down the computer.
As she turned her head inadvertently, she saw Catherine's malicious gaze, causing her to frown slightly.
Before she could take a closer look, Catherine had already looked away, as if the brief eye contact had been her imagination.
Mary didn't believe in coincidences or illusions.

Maria came out of the office, "Mary, let's go!"
"Coming."
Mary responded, and the two of them left together. As soon as they left, Catherine followed them out.
