Chapter 763 Mary, I Don't Fell Well

Shirley looked at Mary and asked, "So, when are you heading to Diamond Ridge?"

Mary replied, "I'm gonna wait a bit longer, until my divorce with Matthew is finalized."

"What?" Shirley was shocked. "Did I hear that right? He actually agreed to the divorce?"

"Yeah, he did." Mary nodded. "Honestly, I couldn't believe it either. But thinking back, every time we talked about divorce, he agreed and showed up. It was me who didn't."

Shirley was incredulous. "After all this time, he finally gave in. What's he up to?"

"No clue." Mary shook her head and then yawned. "I'm beat. I'm going to bed. You should get some rest, too."

Shirley nodded. "Alright, you rest. I'm heading out."

As she picked up her bag and walked to the door, she suddenly said, "Oh, Mary, Robert's wedding is in three days. Are you really not going?"

Mary paused and said, "No, I'm not going."

Robert didn't want her there, so she wouldn't go. Besides, she didn't care much for Joan.

Shirley nodded. "Alright then. I'll go and check it out. I'll tell you all the fun stuff that happens."

"Okay."

Shirley left, and Mary took a shower and put on a robe to do her skincare routine.

Just then, her phone buzzed.

She picked it up and saw a message from Robert.

Robert: [Isn't the night sky beautiful tonight?]

Robert: [Picture]

Mary looked at the photo. He was standing on a mountaintop, facing away from the camera, looking up at the starry sky. His silhouette looked lonely and desolate.

She frowned slightly.

This was the path he chose, and he should have known the consequences. Talking about it now was pointless.

Mary didn't respond. She got into bed and tried to sleep.

But just as she was drifting off, her phone rang, waking her up and making her a bit irritated.

When Mary answered the call, her tone was heavy.

A deep, hoarse voice came through, "Mary, I don't feel well."

Mary squinted at the phone. It was Matthew's name.

"If you don't feel well, go to the hospital. I'm not a doctor. Why are you calling me?" Mary replied, a bit annoyed. Being woken up from a good sleep was really frustrating!

There was silence on the other end for a moment before he continued, "I think you got me sick, Mary. You need to take responsibility."

Mary resisted the urge to roll her eyes and bit her lip. "Do you have any medicine at home?"

Matthew replied, "I don't know."

Before she could say anything, he continued, "My head hurts. I feel awful, Mary. I feel really awful."

He kept repeating it, making it impossible to have a proper conversation.

Remembering how Matthew had taken care of her when she had a high fever, Mary suppressed her temper, hung up the phone, got dressed, and went downstairs.

She rang the doorbell, and after a while, the door finally opened.

Matthew's tall figure stood in the doorway, the light behind him dim. He was frowning deeply, wearing a dark blue robe with the collar slightly open, revealing a hint of his chest muscles.

His face was flushed unnaturally.

Mary asked, "You have a fever?"

His body was hot, and his lips were a bit chapped. He turned and walked back inside, responding weakly.
