Chapter 630 His People
Mary was startled!
There were just too many dangers tonight!
She was too scared to the point she almost jumped out of her skin!
She hurriedly opened the door and quickly went inside.
But just then, a hand suddenly grabbed her shoulder and pushed her into the house, with the figure following closely behind.
Mary screamed and struggled violently, grabbing a small ornament from the entryway cabinet and preparing to smash it towards the person behind her.
The ornament was a porcelain cat, quite heavy, the kind that would definitely cause a bloody head if it hit.
"Mary."
Matthew's deep voice came, and he directly grabbed her wrist, frowning as he looked at her pale face.
"It's me."
Mary's hand was raised high in the air. As she saw Matthew's handsome and sharp face, her breathing became rapid, and her chest heaved violently.
She shouted, "Why did you barge in without any warning? Are you out of your mind?"
She used her other hand to hit him hard. At this moment, she was so terrified that she genuinely believed someone had followed her inside and that her end was near.
Matthew let her hit him, took the porcelain cat from her hand, and put it back on the entryway cabinet.
He said, "If I made a sound, would you have let me in?"
Mary exclaimed, "Get out!"
Matthew's handsome face darkened.
However, he already knew what had happened earlier, which was why he came to check on her.
And she was clearly very scared.
He let go of her hand and asked, "Why are you so afraid?"
Mary turned around, not wanting to tell him what had just happened.
There was no need.
Then, she turned around and saw Shirley standing not far away, arms crossed, looking at them with a mocking smile.
Shirley raised an eyebrow, "I almost thought there was a robbery in the house."
Mary walked over and hugged her, "Shirley, I was scared to death today."
Shirley quickly patted her back and shot Matthew a fierce glare, "Mr. Montagu, with all your sneaky behavior, I truly wonder if Jessica knows?"
Now, the news of Matthew and Jessica's engagement was spreading like wildfire.
Matthew was staring intently at Mary.
Watching her be cold as ice to him one moment and then throw herself into Shirley's arms for comfort the next.
Was his embrace not as broad and comfortable as Shirley's?
She would rather hug Shirley than come to him.
Matthew's face turned cold, and he turned to leave, slamming the door loudly.
"What a weirdo!" Shirley sneered.
Mary was still holding her, calming the fear in her heart.
Shirley asked, "What exactly happened?"
Mary then recounted what had happened earlier.
Shirley's brows furrowed tightly, "Are you okay? Is there anywhere you are injured?"
As she spoke, she pulled Mary's arm and began to check her body.
Mary shook her head, "No, I'm not hurt."
She frowned and mentioned what she found strange.
The two of them sat on the couch.
Shirley listened to her, touched her chin, and said, "If you think the two people who suddenly entered the elevator were strange, then isn't Matthew also strange? What did he come for?"
Mary's expression paused, "He's always been weird."
Shirley was amused by her and then said, "Although I really dislike him, to be fair, those two people who came in later were very likely sent by him."
