Chapter 435 Will He Still Pester Me
Mary was quiet for a bit before saying, "I don't think this is gonna be easy to fix."
Shirley looked confused. "Is he still gonna bug me and make me take responsibility for him? That's so lame. We're both adults. Isn't a one-night stand pretty normal?"
Mary sighed, "Just be careful; you did take his virginity."
Shirley cringed. "Gross."
Mary tried to reassure her, "Get some rest. I'll come over later."
Shirley replied, "Alright, but you better bring something tasty. I'm counting on that meal."
Mary chuckled, "Okay, just wait."
After hanging up, Mary couldn't help but sigh.
Fate was such a weird thing, bringing together people who'd never normally meet.
Mary went back to her skincare routine, and when she came out of the bedroom, she saw Matthew coming out of the study.
Last night, after they got back, they slept in separate rooms.
Matthew had been in the study, and now he looked tired, his face even more sullen than before.
Mary just glanced at him indifferently and then headed downstairs.
Matthew stared at her and said, "Clear your schedule three days from now. It's Grandma's birthday party, and you're coming with me."
Mary paused and asked, "How much?"
Matthew looked confused. "What?"
Mary smiled, "It's pretty frustrating being your wife, but now you want me to play along. Why don't we set a clear price? I can go with you, but you have to pay."
Matthew seemed to find it funny and walked towards her, "A clear price?"
Mary's eyes met his calmly. "Think I'm not worth it? Fine, we can get a divorce, and you can find someone else to go with you."
Matthew's face darkened. "Mary, are you just looking for trouble?"
Mary replied, "I'm calmly discussing this. You're the one in a bad mood. Is that my fault?"
She had a knack for driving him crazy.
At times like this, Matthew really wanted to strangle her!
He stared at her with his deep eyes. They stood on different levels of the stairs, with Matthew looking down at her, but Mary wasn't scared at all.
For Mary, there was nothing to be afraid of because he couldn't kill her.
"Mary, you win," Matthew said coldly, then turned and left. Before entering the bedroom, he added, "One million dollars."
Mary smiled, "Alright, I'll take that day off."
Making money was so easy; all it took was marrying someone she didn't love.
Mary lowered her eyes slightly, her gaze indifferent, and went to the dining room to eat.
When she was halfway through her meal, Matthew came out. He had changed his clothes and was exuding a cold aura.
At that moment, his phone rang. He took a look and then put it on speaker. "Hello?"
Jessica's pained voice came through, "Matthew, why is my arm getting worse? It really hurts. Can you come and see me?"
Matthew glanced at Mary and asked Jessica, "What's going on?"
Jessica's voice was tinged with tears. "I don't know. It really hurts. It looks so bad."
Matthew tried to comfort her, "Don't be afraid. I'll come over and take a look."
Jessica's tone brightened a bit. "Okay, I'll wait for you."
