Chapter 814 Do You Not Have Wives?

Michael was stunned.

His usually composed face started to show cracks.

The shareholders were dumbfounded.

'What?'

'Are you even listening to yourself?'

Their expressions were a mix of disbelief and curiosity, all eyes on Matthew, waiting to see what he'd say next.

On the other end of the phone, Mary was speechless.

She wondered if she was hearing things.

Did he just say he was being bullied?

Wasn't he the one who usually did the bullying?

Mary's tone was indifferent as she said, "Looks like you're fine, so I'm gonna hang up now."

"No, wait, there's something going on," Matthew hurriedly said, trying to keep her on the line. "Something big happened. The Montagu Group's top execs are having a board meeting right now. They wanna kick me out. I'm about to lose my job."

The shareholders were speechless.

This was getting more and more ridiculous.

Mary was silent for a moment before saying, "This process seems familiar to me."

Wasn't this how things went down with the DK Group?

And then?

Then he played a big card and took over the Montagu Group.

Matthew said, "This time is different from last time. I'm losing my job. Do you wanna help me out?"

Mary replied, "I can't afford to."

Matthew insisted, "You can. I'm easy to take care of."

The shareholders were speechless.

They couldn't listen to this anymore.

This was just too much.

Sensing their stares, Matthew slowly turned his gaze to them and asked, "What are you looking at? Don't you have wives to call?"

Mary was speechless.

The shareholders fell silent again.

Mary, realizing he was in a meeting but still talking nonsense with her, felt her cheeks heat up and quickly hung up the phone.

Matthew looked at his phone, his long eyebrows furrowing in displeasure.

His gaze towards the shareholders turned icy.

"Continue," he said coldly.

His mood was sour.

It hadn't been like this before.

Michael glanced at Matthew's stern face and couldn't help but think that if these people hadn't been staring at him while he was on the phone, he might be in a much better mood right now.

After all, it was Mary who called, showing concern for him!

Even though they were about to get divorced.

But Matthew was always good at winning her back!

The conference room fell into a brief silence. After a while, Finnegan spoke up, "Seems like Matthew and his wife have a good relationship."

Matthew's expression was cold. "Of course. My wife cares about me, unlike you. How many wives have you run off?"

"You!"

Finnegan's face turned ugly.

He was known for his flings, even at his age, falling for one woman after another, constantly changing wives.

This remark was hitting a sore spot, a blatant act of revenge.

Finnegan looked at his assistant, his eyes questioning.

The assistant, a bit nervous, whispered in his ear, "Finnegan, Linda declined your invitation."

"What?"

Finnegan's face changed. He glanced at Matthew, trying to control his emotions, and asked in a low voice, "Did you ask why she refused?"

The assistant replied, "Linda said she needs to take care of Richard and doesn't want to leave him. She also doesn't have the energy to manage the group's affairs."

Finnegan's face grew serious.
