Shirley couldn't sleep at all. Lying in bed, she felt both nervous and excited. The thought of leaving Lindwood City and that annoying guy Herman thrilled her.
She was almost counting down the time.
Just then, there was a loud knock at the door.
Shirley was startled and quickly got up to look outside. The girl was also awakened, "What's going on?"
A sudden sense of dread washed over Shirley. Could they have found her?
So soon?
She got out of bed and said, "I'll go check. You guys stay here."
The girl was anxious, "Shirley, will everything be okay?"
Shirley nodded, "Don't worry, everything will be fine."
She put on her clothes and left the house, "Who is it?"
She asked cautiously.
"Shirley, it's me, come out quickly!"
At the door, Mary's voice rang out.
Shirley was stunned and hurriedly went to open the door, "Mary, why are you here?"
Hadn't she already gone home?
By this time, she should have already reached Maple Grove Manor.
Mary grabbed her wrist, looking anxious, "I saw Herman's car. He's found you. We need to leave now!"
Upon hearing this, Shirley was stunned, "He found me? How did he find me?"
She had been extremely secretive about her whereabouts. How could Herman have found her so quickly?
Mary said, "Now's not the time to worry about that. We need to go."
"Right, wait a moment. I'll go get my things." Shirley turned and ran back into the house, said a few words to the girl, then came out with a backpack and hurriedly got into Mary's car.
Mary started the car and drove straight ahead.
Shirley looked back nervously and, upon seeing something, her eyes widened, "Mary, we might not be able to escape."
Mary also saw the headlights behind them, and her face instantly turned pale!
How could this be?
Where did things go wrong?
How did Herman get here so quickly?
The roaring car chased after them, and Mary floored the gas pedal, speeding ahead!
Seeing her expression, Shirley said worriedly, "Mary, he's already found me. I probably can't escape. Maybe we should just give up."
"No way!" Mary said firmly, "We can't just give up. You're about to leave!"
Shirley noticed something was off about her, "Mary, what's wrong with you?"
Mary just looked ahead, "I will get you out of here!"
She glanced at the car trailing behind them, realizing they needed to completely lose them.
Mary thought of Joshua and Terry and immediately dialed Joshua's number.
"Ms. Smith."
The call was quickly answered.
Mary said, "Joshua, do you have a way to get Shirley out of Lindenwood City right now?"
Joshua said, "I'm afraid not. Herman's attendants have already circled ahead."
"What?"
Joshua said, "Ms. Smith, Herman brought a lot of people. He's been watching from the shadows. There are indeed people surrounding you from the front."
As Joshua finished speaking, several bright headlights appeared ahead. Mary instinctively hit the brakes.
Shirley also saw the cars in front and smirked sarcastically, "Anyone who didn't know better would think I was Herman's runaway wife."
