Chapter 576 Herman Is Going to Get Engaged to Joan

Just then, there was a commotion at the door.

Mary and Sophia looked over and saw Joan walking out in a beautiful gown. She wore a diamond tiara on her head, exuding confidence and beauty, with elegance in every gesture.

Beside her was Laura, and behind her were Herman and Matthew.

Mary's expression froze.

Sophia glanced at her and said, "Joan has been playing with Herman and Matthew since they were kids. Because of the relationship between their families, they took good care of Joan. Later, Joan grew up and fell in love with Herman. She has been pursuing him relentlessly for years. I heard Herman plans to get engaged to Joan."

Herman was going to marry Joan?

What about Shirley?

Mary was holding a grape. Hearing Sophia's words, she squeezed it so hard that it burst!

Herman didn't plan to let Shirley go.

If he marries Joan, what did that make Shirley?

Mary had been calm before, but now she couldn't stay calm at all.

If Herman were single and dating Shirley, she could accept it.

After all, they were both single, and nothing would be hindered.

Mary decided she had to persuade Shirley again, not to give up without a fight.

"Mr. Montagu is looking at you."

Mary was lost in thought when Sophia's voice rang out again.

She snapped back to reality and instinctively looked at Matthew, only to meet his deep eyes.

Mary calmly looked away, her beautiful eyebrows furrowing.

Joan, like the center of attention, was surrounded by people who took out their prepared gifts for her.

Joan wore a proud smile and didn't reach out to take the gifts. Instead, she pointed to a corner, "You can put them over there."

Laura handed her a gift, "Joan, happy birthday."

Compared to the others, Joan accepted her gift, "Thank you."

She turned to Herman, "Where's your gift?"

Herman took out a small box from his pocket and handed it to Joan.

Joan accepted it with delight and opened it immediately, her smile stiffening.

It was a very ordinary pair of diamond earrings, neither limited edition nor custom-made. She was a bit disappointed, but she still held them in her hand, smiling at Herman, "I really like them."

Herman's expression was sluggish as he walked past her and headed straight for the sofa.

Matthew took out a box and said, "Happy birthday."

Joan also reached out to accept it, "Thank you, Matthew."

She didn't open it but placed it aside with Laura's gift, then turned to put on the earrings Herman had given her.

On her whole body, perhaps only these earrings were the cheapest.

But it didn't matter.

She really liked them!

Mary's gaze remained on Herman. After he sat on the sofa, he quickly started chatting with the person next to him.

This party was one that ordinary people couldn't blend into at all.

As she was pondering, someone suddenly appeared in front of her, blocking her view.

Mary instinctively looked up and met Matthew's stern gaze.

She looked away and continued eating fruit.

Sophia had already walked away tactfully. When she saw Matthew approaching Mary, her eyes lit up a bit!
