Chapter 513 Don't Regret It
"Why?"
Mary said, "I made up with Matthew."
"What?!"
Shirley's voice suddenly shot up, as if she jumped up on the other side, and a chaotic noise followed.
"Mary, you must be joking, right? This joke isn't funny at all." Shirley was completely flustered.
Shirley had cursed Matthew the most, even urging them to get a divorce, but now Mary was telling her they made up?
They made up, but it made her look like a fool!
Shirley's voice became more urgent, "Mary, have you forgotten the hurt you went through before? Hasn't he hurt you enough? How can you make up with him?"
Mary felt very sad and wanted to blurt out the truth, but Matthew was right, the fewer people who knew the truth, the less risk there was.
If someone found out something from Shirley, wouldn't all Mary's efforts be in vain?
She just wanted to return to a normal life.
Avoiding it wouldn't solve the problem.
Mary closed her eyes and said, "Through this incident, I realized I still can't let him go, so I want to try reaching out to him again."
Shirley gritted her teeth. "You've forgotten the past pain and lessons!"
When it came to others, she could talk freely, but in front of Mary, she couldn't say a word!
What could she do?
Shirley sat down in the chair, deflated, and calmed down, saying, "Mary, since you've decided, I hope you won't regret it. I'll be very busy for a while, so don't look for me. Even if you do, I won't have time to accompany you."
After saying that, she directly hung up the phone.
"Shirley."
Mary was stunned and called her name.
But the call had already ended. She stared at the black screen of her phone, feeling very upset.
Shirley was angry.
If it were someone else, they would be angrier.
Matthew said lightly, "Once things are resolved, I'll invite her to dinner to apologize."
Mary pressed her lips together and said nothing.
Seeing her reaction, Matthew didn't pressure her but just turned to walk away.
However, as he turned around, a pleased smile appeared on his lips.
Mary stayed in the room the whole time.
Not eating or drinking.
Matthew thought that giving her some time to calm down would make her feel better.
But a day had passed, and she still had no intention of coming out. His patience ran out, and he went directly to the bedroom.
Mary remained in bed, staring blankly into space
Matthew stood by the bed and said in a low voice, "Mary, get up and eat."
Mary's voice was hoarse, "I'm not hungry."
Matthew, "Even if you're not hungry, you have to eat. What are you doing with this behavior? Are you regretting it?"
He leaned over, turned her body around, and gazed at her with a dull stare. "If you regret it, you can leave now. I won't stop you."
Mary's eyelashes trembled, and after a moment of silence, she said, "Okay, I'll go eat."
Matthew felt relaxed. He helped her up and watched her go into the bathroom.
In the dining room, Matthew handed her a file. "This is all the information on the Sarah family."
Mary didn't look at it and instead ate slowly.
She had no strength now and needed to get nutrition.
At that moment, her phone rang. She picked it up and saw it was a call from Robert.
After a brief hesitation, she answered.
"Robert."
As soon as she spoke, a cold gaze fell on her.
