Chapter 623 Be Your Mistress
Mary's face instantly turned grim as she replied, "Is your happiness built on my suffering?"
Matthew said, "If you feel sad, you can come to me for shelter."
Mary sneered, "How will you shelter me? By making me your mistress?"
Matthew didn't say anything, just looked at her with a smirk.
Mary only felt it was ironic.
She turned and left, slamming the door shut.
Matthew closed his eyes, and the smirk on his face instantly disappeared.
He took a bottle of liquor from the cabinet, poured it into a glass, and slowly drank it.
Staring at the night outside the window, his eyes were darker than the night.
When Shirley saw Mary return, she asked, "Did he give you a hard time?"
Mary shook her head, "No, just his usual craziness."
Shirley laughed, "That's a pretty accurate description."
Mary washed her hands, came over to sit next to her, and started eating fried chicken, "Food is the best; My mood booster is always there when I need it."
Shirley opened a beer, "Here you go, honey, beer won't let you down either. After drinking it, you'll sleep well."
"Okay." Mary didn't refuse.
Life was too bitter; she needed some alcohol to numb her nerves.
After a bottle of beer, she was already feeling tipsy.
Her alcohol tolerance was low, but luckily she was at home, so even if she got drunk and acted out, it didn't matter.
She hugged a pillow, obediently lying on the couch, watching Shirley move around the room.
"Shirley..." Mary's voice was soft, even a bit pleading, "Why don't you come over here?"
Shirley said, "I'm coming. Let's go to the bedroom to talk."
Shirley tidied up, walked over, and pulled Mary up to go to the bedroom.
Mary obediently followed her, and after entering the bedroom, she lay on the bed.
Shirley looked at her obedient demeanor and couldn't help but laugh, "Mary, you shouldn't drink outside anymore. If someone sees you like this, they'll take you away."
Mary nodded, "I know; I won't drink outside."
Shirley couldn't help but pinch her cheek and lay down beside her, "Mary, good night."
"Shirley, good night."
At three in the morning.
Mary was woken up by the phone ringing.
She frowned tightly, grabbed the phone, and without looking at who it was, answered impatiently, "Who is it?"
But her voice was so soft, with a thick nasal tone, it made one's heart tremble.
Matthew's deep voice came through, "Mary, come over, I have a new idea."
Mary was angry, "You say come over and I should come over? Who do you think you are!"
Matthew seemed surprised by her response, "Mary, who am I?"
Mary responed, "I don't know who you are, but disturbing my sleep in the middle of the night makes you a bad person!"
Matthew suddenly laughed, "Have you been drinking?"
Mary said, "No, I haven't!"
Sleepiness washed over her like a tide; she really didn't want to continue talking.
"I'm sleepy, don't bother me." She mumbled, forgetting to hang up the phone, and fell asleep just like that.
