Chapter 303 Returning to Lindwood City
The chick noticed Matthew's face went ice-cold, and it felt like the whole cabindropped a few degrees. She awkwardly looked away and stopped trying to chat him up.
Still, she could feel the chill coming off him.
She even asked the flight attendant for a blanket!
But it didn't help at all.
She glanced at Matthew and saw he had a face like someone just kicked his puppy.
Suddenly, she got why Mary wanted to swap seats with her!
'Sitting next to this guy, anyone would get mentally drained, right?' she thought.
The woman got up, grabbed her stuff, and headed back to economy class.
Mary was snoozing when she got woken up. She took off her eye mask and saw the woman who had swapped seats with her earlier.
"Hey, I don't like your spot. Let's switch back."
Mary was confused. "But that's business class; it's way comfier than here."
The woman shot back, "I just like it here. This was my seat first. Give it back."
Mary was quiet for a sec and then switched back with her.
When she got back to business class, she saw Matthew sitting there with his cold stare, his narrow eyes locked on her.
"Why are you back?"
Mary snapped, "None of your business."
She finally got why the woman wanted to switch back.
Mary thought, 'With Matthew's frosty face, who'd wanna sit next to him?'
Annoyed, Mary sat down and put her eye mask back on.
Suddenly, her hand was grabbed. Startled, she yanked off her eye mask and looked at Matthew beside her. "What are you doing?"
Matthew said coldly, "Holding onto you so you don't run off again."
Mary's mouth twitched. She tried to pull her hand away, but he held on tight. The harder she pulled, the tighter he squeezed, and her hand started to hurt.
Mary just gave up. If he didn't mind the effort, he could hold on as long as he wanted!
Sensing she stopped struggling, a faint smile finally appeared on Matthew's thin lips, and his overall vibe chilled out a bit.
The plane landed in Lindwood City.
Mary stepped out of the airport and looked around, feeling as if she had stepped into another world.
She grabbed her suitcase and hopped into a taxi, giving the name of the hotel.
Matthew watched her leave without looking back, his expression turning cold again.
Michael asked, "Mr. Montagu, heading straight to the office?"
"Yeah," Matthew responded flatly.
Just as he got into the car, his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID and saw it was Victoria.
"Hey, Grandma."
Victoria's cheerful voice came through, "Matthew, when are you and Mary coming back? It's been ages since you were here. Have you both forgotten about me?"
Victoria's voice was all bubbly and bright, like she was on cloud nine.
Matthew said, "I'll bring her back tonight."
Victoria replied, "Great, come straight home. I've told the kitchen to whip up something delicious. You both gotta come back!"
"Okay," Matthew agreed.
Victoria happily hung up and went to instruct the kitchen to prepare the meal.
Matthew stared at his phone but didn't immediately tell Mary. Instead, he started looking at documents, handling his work first.
