Chapter 121 She Scoffed Them
Shirley blurted out, "Hey, ever heard of 'first come, first served'? I saw this necklace first!"
Laura smirked and glanced at Mary. "We should ask Ms. Smith about that. You know what 'first come, first served' means, right?"
"You!" Shirley snapped, jabbing a finger at Laura. "Why are you acting all two-faced? Do you think Mary cares about that jerk? Deal with your mess instead of dragging Mary into this!"
Laura's smile widened. "Ms. Hill, haven't you figured it out? Matthew hasn't divorced Ms. Smith because he's protecting me. As long as she's Mrs. Montagu, I'm safe."
"Shame on you!" Shirley fumed, then turned to the silent, stern-faced man. "Is she telling the truth? Is this really what you think?"
Matthew, in his black suit, radiated cold elegance as he turned to Shirley with icy eyes. "It's just a necklace, and you resort to foul language? Where's your class?"
Shirley sneered. "My class is for people with manners, not for you!"
She scoffed. "Douchebag and bitch!"
Laura's eyes flickered, and she took off the necklace, offering it to Shirley. "Ms. Hill, why make a fuss? It's just a necklace, take it."
Shirley pushed her hand away. "Get lost! I don't want anything your dirty hands have touched!"
But then, Laura stumbled back, fear plastered on her face!
Matthew caught her, his expression turning icy. "You are playing with fire." An invisible pressure filled the room, sending chills down everyone's spine!
Shirley wanted to retort, but Mary grabbed her hand and stepped forward. "Was Shirley wrong?"
Matthew's cold gaze locked onto her, her clear eyes showing a hint of frost as she stared back, emotionless. They stood there, neither backing down.
Laura's eyes flickered, and she suddenly clutched Matthew's hand. "Matthew, my leg hurts..."
Matthew's face hardened, glaring at Shirley. "Apologize to Laura."
Mary interjected. "Why should Shirley apologize? She didn't push her. Laura's acting like she's in pain from a slight touch. Maybe she should stay home so the wind doesn't blow her away!"
"Mary!" Matthew's voice was heavy as he looked at her.
Mary raised her chin. "What? I am all ears." She was still holding a grudge from last night!
That jerk Matthew had sex with her and then left in the morning, spending the same night out shopping with another woman.
Did he think she'd just let it slide? No way. Not the Mary Smith way!
Laura's eyes welled up with tears, turning to Mary. "Ms. Smith, what did I do wrong? Why are you saying this to me? I lost my leg saving Matthew."
Mary's gaze was icy. "None of my business."
Laura, on the verge of tears. "Ms. Smith, you're being unreasonable."
Mary chuckled. "You are reasonable, yet you barged in and snatched things from others!"
Laura found herself speechless against Mary! What a pain in the ass!
Mary seemed like a cactus at that moment, ready to sting anyone who dared to approach.
